Big clappies for mentions such as Roye Albrighton and Steve Morse.
![]() Great to see the great Gary Moore receiving some recognition, despite the fact he is not what we would call prog. |

2nd embarrasment, I guess in your original sentence you meant NEAL Morse where you put Steve (Alan you had already mentioned as the underrated one, which I fully agree with)

Very much agreed. Talking with Cipher (the two piece,Theo Travis and Dave Sturt) after their interesting gig at Nottingham's Contemporary last Tuesday , when they revealed having recently played with Bill Nelson at some form of reunion concert. When I asked whether Nelson was still heavily into keyboards, they told me the guitar is definitely to the fore once more.

U.A.? That would be Mr. Anthony Phillips. Everyone always seems to be googoo over Hackett and what he did for Genesis. Due to fault of his own (leaving Genesis). The Geese and the Ghost, Sides and recently "Slow Dance pt.1". He plays with such incredible feeling that he IS one with his guitar. youtube has him doing "The Reaper". Listen and tell me that is not one of the most impressive acoustic guitar pieces you've ever heard.

Absolutely agree with Hodgson! Very not mentioned! What a pair he and Rick Davies were. Any Tramp song that they both had vocals in were wonderful.

I thought my replies would be by what I replied to. Not trying to over do it but I have one more that hasn't been mentioned nor if any of you have or have heard....
Guitarist for "Ain Soph" A Story of Mysterious Forest.
I highly recommend and suggest if you can get your hands on any of their albums. All instrumental.

Heh! Good choices!! STEVE Morse (of Dixie Dregs, Steve Morse Band & Deep Purple) is easily one of the best guitarists I've ever seen, highly recommended!
Daryl Stuermer, who played with Jean-Luc Ponty & then live with Genesis, is another amazing guitarist who hasn't been mentioned. He is much better than Rutherford on the 6 sting IMHO, and Genesis should have had DS record with them. John Goodsall is just beyond....check out his newest material on his MySpace and Facebook pages! And, don't forget some of the up & coming bands, such as Scale The Summit....they channel the gamelan-guitar style of Discipline-era Fripp & Belew! http://www.myspace.com/scalethesummit Oh crap! Did anyone mention JOHN PETRUCCI??

The late Shawn Lane
Paul Bielatowicz from the Carl Palmer Band and the european Neal Morse band (DVD Sola Scriptura) is also a very fine guitarist.
John Mitchell from Arena, great sense of melody and dynamics. Edited by Gerinski - December 14 2010 at 00:19 |
