How are those new mixes?

I wish they would have included Vegetable Man and a few of the other super-rarities, it would have been nice to have those officially released as part of the historical record.  I'll never understand the reluctance to simply give the hard core fans what they want, they'd rather rewrite history and pretend certain songs didn't happen.  I rather like the song as do many early Floyd fans.

Alot of them sounded much improved to me, especially Apples & Oranges. The new intrumental at the end was also a nice addition, it showcases Syd's ability as a guitarist.

I would've killed for Vegetable Man too.

Anything super noteworthy about the packaging/booklet?

And how did you like Rhamadan?  I've heard it but I don't own a copy now.  I remember it being like a long studio jam session.

Well other than I totally love the cover (Hipgnosis of course) the rest of the package isn't too flashy. Rhamadan was incredible though, I didn't know Syd was coherrant enough to sound that good for twenty minutes. LOL

Yeah, Syd could do a bang up job when he wanted to....

There are some good notes on Rhamadan in "Random Precision."  This book is a MUST for Barrett fans, it is a detailed description of every Barrett recording session, Floyd and solo, that ever occurred.  Detailed notes and tape labels are photocopied, as are the recollections of the producers and engineers who were there at the time.  Dates, times, and practically even piss breaks are given to the minute.  It's incredible.  If you're really into Barrett, get this book before it goes OOP.

1st listen ever.  Listening to this on vinyl.  Unfortunately there were a couple of skip spots on side 1, but otherwise it sounds really good.

Is that a first issue copy?  The one with the booklet on the inside?
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...
