My personal story with  High Hopes: When I listened to it for the first time the echoed voice fading out on "Forever and ever...." touched me deeply, then the guitar coda completed the work.
I don't know why but immediately after I started re-reading all the books of Clifford Simak.

The sense of loss and regret for the time gone is the same as in novels like "City" and "Here Gather the Stars".
When a song is able to touch me in this way, I consider it a masterpiece. It's a subjective fact, so it's not strange if it doesn't do the same to anybody else.

Another song which did me a similar thing is The Post-War Dream, but the whole Final Cut worked on me in this way.

I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

They both are 2 star ratings...but Momentary Lapse of Reason is slightly better.

Huh. I thought it would be closer for some reason, although the Division Bell is the better album, I agree.

What he says, only for me it's my 3rd favourite Floyd album after WYWH and DSOTM. High hopes is the best Floyd song since Shine on...

I actually enjoyed The Division Bell...I didn't really like A Momentary Lapse of Reason that much.

Would you like some Bailey's?

I don't rate High Hopes but it seems to be popular.

The Division Bell. It contains one of my favourites from Floyd, High Hopes.

Edit: Looking at the posts so far. I didn't know High Hopes got this much respect.

The one with many beds on landscape. The second one is too long, thus expatiative and sometimes boring.
