Aha, looks like I might have managed to stump people!
Alright, here's a clue- you're looking at the wrong elements. The sample is the "are you ready" vocal that comes in behind the beat. And the artist's name begins with M.
Any takers?

Intro hi-hats sound like Crimso's Indoor Games (but probably a coincidence).
The guys that sampled Ritual clearly didn't realise that melody was in 5/4! Silly people...

Re Slick Rick: the fading train horn is from Kraftwerk's Trans-Europe Express (I think).
The gong at the end might be from a prog record, but more likely a generic sample CD or sound effects record. Gong hit samples are a dime a dozen. Edited by Easy Money - October 17 2010 at 07:52

Damn, that was easier than I expected.
Well yeah, it would be nice if people discovered they liked some of the hip-hop tracks but it's fine if they don't. You can hate them all and still test your prog ears by spotting the samples.
