Then you don't understand Magma.  This isn't necessarily a bad thing, though; not everyone does.

Understanding/ feeling any music has so much to do with one's musical background.  Individual taste and response/ reaction depends on various factors. Hermeneutics and audience reception aesthetics is a serious study. I don't expect others to have the same reaction as I do. If, say, the beauty I feel in Magma's music leaves another cold, I chalk it mostly up to taste and experience.

Beethoven's 9th is glorious to me, but I knew someone who couldn't stand it when I played it for him.

I was just trolling.  I don't really care who likes what anymore.

I still care. I care more about greater understanding than I do simple preferences, though. I don't expect someone to like something I like unless it's someone with very similar tastes, but I still care about trying to convey what makes something special, or important, to me in a discussion setting. I'm also interested in what others like and don't like, and why. I know that other people's opinions, and music they've shared with me, has swayed my own opinions about music and the value of certain music. It's important to me that people recognise that there are valid differences in perception between people, and we don't hear things quite the same.  Music is an art and a language which is interpreted differently by different brains. Sometimes I get a little miffed by all of the "I don't get why others like this" etc. comments. Experience, as well as inherent traits, affects our comprehension and perceptions. Had I grown up with, say, rap rather than classical music, I'd probably like different music. I know I'm digressing horrible, but each of us is on a musical journey, and tastes and perception can alter over time.

More of a digression, but since I tend to think as I write in a stream of consciousness manner: If I had the time for the research, and willing participants, I would like to prepare a paper that correlates our tastes in different arts.  For instance, I expect that an Art House cinema lover would be more likely to appreciate Magma than Dream Theater.  And of course those who like experimental music would be more likely to appreciate experimental cinema. I'd also like to tie musical taste into intelligence, as well as upbringing, education etc..

Zappa - Hot Rats. Turned me into a fan in about 3 listens, and I ended up with 3 more of his albums in the week after that.
Magma - Kobaia, MDK or Kohntarkosz. All 3, except maybe Kobaia, have the Magma sound pretty well ingrained into the music, and they're all 5* albums IMO.

Damn, this is like the hardest poll ever! I hold a lot more of Zappa's albums in high regard, but then again Mekanïk Destrukïw Kommandöh is just about the greatest thing ever made by man. I'm seriously gonna flip a coin for this one. It came up Zappa, can't argue with the coin.

I actually don't much like experimental art besides music, experimental cinema is annoying, and experimental visual art usually strikes me as pointless, and experimental literature is usually incomprehensible. Somebody actually did a survey about SAT scores and taste, although his methodology doesn't seem very good, and I don't just think that because generic "jazz" ended up at 940. :P

I was surprised to come back and find Frank ahead.  It seems that there have been more posters speaking in the name of Magma but more quiet voters in the name of Frank.  Gosh, would that mean that Nixon's silent majority is speaking in the name of Zappa?  La-ther?!

Seriously there has been some great discussion here that's been a joy to read.  Wouldn't it be great if either Magma or Zappa could carry it all to the end of the tournament?  A man can dream can't he?  Once again I say that because Genesis and Yes tied, they're both ruled out of the tourney.  Gone.  Then we can start to have some serious fun.
