Yeah. Some of the things that happen when you go insane really bend your perception! Amazing stuff, if you ask me. Clap

I've never even owned a Gamecube and I know about that boss with the second controller. Stupid internet.

I started playing Minecraft but then turned back before I was consumed.

Today I fired up MGS2 for a few hours; damn I love that game. Controls are a little awkward to go back to, but still wonderful.

One of my all time favorites. Ocelot is one hell of a villain.

SPOILERS
Too bad MGS4 kind of ruined that aspect of him. I liked him much better as a villain.

Meh, some of the effects are neat, but they're used far too sparingly. The main effect of insanity is that the world is tilted. Nothing about the world morphs, though; it's just tilted. The other effects are generally just activated at the beginning of an area and are hallucinations, so they have no impact on the game. They're just silly effects, like shrinking into nothing, falling apart (limb from limb), etc. It's quite easy in the game to keep your sanity meter low, even if you chose the green route, and there's really very little effect to having it get high. Bleh, I was disappointed, anyway.

I hear Amnesia is good for a scare or two, though. I'll have to get around to playing it; the Penumbra series was pretty neat as well.

I'm playing the Nehrim total conversion for Oblivion, which was only recently released in English. It shows you just what the game could have been like if the developers had any imagination.

The Oblivion modding community is absolutely fantastic; I remember thinking Oblivion was amazing then hearing about some of the mods, it's pretty amazing just how good a lot of them are.

Most of my (IRL) friends disagreed with me about Ocelot being lamer in MGS4 I definitely agree though. MGS4 is still absolutely brilliant, though.
Btw, have you seen the trailer for Metal Gear Rising?

Well, he was fine until the very end when you find out it was all self-induced for the greater good, and all that jazz. It took the sinister aspects of Ocelot away completely. I think your friends just need to pay better attention to the ending. Maybe they missed it. Tongue

I agree with you for the most part, though. MGS 4 is still as good as they come as far as espionage games are concerned. I liked how they made it more of a globetrotting experience this time with all the different locations. Plus the story was tied up quite nicely, for the most part. In fact, MGS 4 was in competion with MGS 2 for awhile for my number one Metal Gear game spot. Sons Of Liberty still prevailed, ultimately.

And yes, I've seen the trailer for Rising. Looks pretty cool, although you know it's probably going to be aimed at the non-MGS audience for the most part. It looks more like Ninja Gaiden than MGS based on what little I've seen, though that's not necessarily a bad thing.

^A few of my friends tried out MGS2/3 after 4 and said they thought they were terrible, I'm guessing because it was a lot less shooting based. Snake Eater is still probably my favourite overall, although I can't seem to find my copy in the house at all right now
Hopefully they don't make MG Rising into a pure action game, it seems like they could given the much closer attention to shooting in MGS4 and the trailer which focussed on combat; I'm still excited, though.

Hey guys! I'm going to try to get involved a little bit in this thread from now on. I'm heavily into video games... Lately I've been playing these a lot:

Yeah, Red Dead Redemption really is a terrific game. Rockstar really hit the nail on the head with that one... I'm nearing the end of my first playthrough. Smile

Nah... I also have a Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Nintendo DS, Playstation 2, and Wii. With that said, I have been playing mostly Xbox 360 games the last year or so.

Ah, I see.

Well, i WAS playing mainly 360 for the longest time . . . then I moved, and no longer had a convenient means of hardwiring my xbox to the internet. Since it's about a hundred bucks or so to get the Wi-Fi adapter, I decided I'd let my uncle borrow it for while while I caught up on my PS3 and Wii playing. Tongue

Xbox Live Arcade is absolutely wonderful, though. I miss it.

Speaking of Xbox, do any of you guys have Halo: Reach yet? I've been thinking about getting it... I haven't played any of the Halo games in a long time, but I really loved Halo 3 when it came out. I'll definitely get the game eventually, but a hefty $60 price tag is a bit much for me unless it's REALLY worth it.

It's the best Halo game. Granted, they are all really good, and each one just fine tunes and experiments slightly with the previous one. But the customization of the multiplayer is just intensely fun. The story is pretty good, and connects with Halo: CE well. The story is a lot less retarded than Halo 2.
