I hope you guys(and girls) don't mind if I join in the fun. I will remain silent for the first few days. There are some bands that doesn't have tracks, I might contribute in that section. If you want to know about me, just ask. I am open for interrogation. It is a great site, so I asked my self "why not join it!" , so, you know. Questions, comments, and etc. are all welcome. |

Hey, thanks guys. I am really a bud, you know, just hatched from the egg. So, I am actually exploring music; music that can actually coalesces with my mood and state of mind. Something that gives out the right atmosphere and mystical air around. So far, I am interested in Raga rock and those that transcends into Psychedelic and acid rock. I love the Sitar, such an amazing, mesmerizing instrument, and coupled with those guitar... I can say, Bardo Pond did a lot lot in that section. I have been listening to them, lately. I am not living in a country where LP records and rare music are readily available.(I had to do bad stuff ). So, I am in a stake out for good music. The first experience of progressive rock would be of Pink Floyd I used to be in those Nu-metal and alternative rock music... you know, Disturbed, Hoobastank, 30STM, Linkin Park, Korn and other chumps. (Yes, I have the guts to mention them!). Later, I was interested in other forms of Metal; like Death, Heavy, Doom, metalcore-mathcore, speed, power and etc. But, I always thought that being a metal head is too ostentatious. I'd better be called an artists rather than a head banger or whatever(sorry metal folks). I still like Industrial Metal, Avant-garde and other fusions, though. I changed when I took a look at Tool. I saw the style, the way the music is played. So, I delve deeper to discover the source of Tool's music. It came out to be a progressive metal. Albeit alternative metal, and not really progressive, I picked up Indukti too. I am also into upbeat music, like Fair to midland(I don't know if there is another band like this one). Then, later I came to this site! And I was here for a while, and after that I decided to join, and here I am. Also, for other form of music. I really love Industrial, Dark EBM, Dark Electro, Aggrotech. I also like Demoscene, 8Bit and Chiptune. Trance, Goa-trance and Psy-trance are the other ones. So - basically looking for Raga rock and pyschedelic rock. So, until then. Edited by DreamerVerX - September 06 2010 at 05:34 |

God it so hard to make recommendation for me....so many avenues...so many bands. Third Ear Band is a raga genre legend, one of the few I'm aware of. I know early Popol Vuh albums can give you that kind of an experience. Getting more modern and moving toward psych you get into Dungen, Kingston Wall, Ozric Tentacles, Djam Karet......Some lesser know metal favorites include Morningside and In the Woods.
Just to name a couple. Then someday, when you want nirvana....look towards Italy |

Welcome!
1. How many left socks do you own? 2. How many right socks do you own? 3. Why do/don't these numbers differ? 4. How do you like your pudding? 5. Why 5 and 1? 6. What's your sister's middle name? 7. Do you still enjoy this interrogation? 8. Answer the question? 9. How come? 10. Does this suffice to make you confess to prog? |

Thanks for those recommendations. Popol Vuh was kind of a little bit space rock and drone. I tried to get that one. I listened to everyone of them(on youtube) to see them ;) - Third Ear Band... what to say. It is a must get, I guess.

If you like Tool, it might be a great time to remove the training wheels and go for King Crimson

Thank you. Wow, that was hard, though.
Yes. Time to move on without them - Time for this little bud to come out and seek out the sun. I am aiming at different type of music; more into Acid, Psy, Space rock, you know. But I bet King Crimson have made nice pieces that falls into the criteria, I just need to look at them. I was looking for the Arabic-styled progressive music - along the line of Acd, Psy and Spc rock. I think I found it: Click me! I am using the Search function to its fullest. No need to make new threads, I guess. Edited by DreamerVerX - September 08 2010 at 07:10 |

I'm a linguist. What was the problem again? This is an amazing record and my favorite by Third Ear Band. Recorded in 1974 and not released until 2004

Actually, on a Dutch bass players forum that I visit regularly, new members used to get lists of 20 random questions from the first member to respond to their introductory post. Maybe we can do the same here |
