I forgot jazz: Duke Ellington - 'the indispensable Duke Ellington vol 11/12 (1944 - 1946)'

If you like Miles Davis, avoid his jazz-rock experimentations of the seventies and prefer either his cool era 'OST for '"lift to the scaffold" or 'kind of blue', or his hard-bop era with Tony Williams on drums (especially 'filles de kilimanjaro' or 'in as ilent way')

I would argue for the complete opposite. Avoid the stiffness of  "Birth of the Cool" and go into the beyond-wild 70s stuff.

Oh, I recommend it! It's a great groundbreaking album.

The Pax Cecilia has been growing on me, (and I already liked them!)
