getting a last.fm account is another good way to get music suggestions and - perhaps more importantly - find out about awesome concerts near you

Ah, I might have known.
I, personally, consider Meddle, Ummagumma, and A Saucerful of Secrets to be their best works, although you can't really go wrong with anything they did in that early period

Ummagumma is a mixed bag; the first 'studio' disc is horrible and meaningless for the most part. The 'live' portion however, is excellent, and one of my most enjoyed Floyd discs.

The Pulse DVD is also really great.
But honestly, disk 1 of Ummagumma is the best live album of all time

Get The Final Cut! It's The Wall but without any filler and imo its a very solid masterpiece (PF's best together with Animals I think). Many people really hate it though, so you can actually go wrong with it. |
Seconded.

I recommend everything except A Momentary Lapse of Reason. Also, if you haven't already, I recommend Live at Pompeii.

Even if you're not a fanboy (and I am ), there is enough variety between Floyd albums that it's worth getting them all nearly all of them

Also, do you have Porcupine Tree's albums Up the Downstairs and The Sky Moves Sideways? Very Floyd-y

I have listened to a bit of it and it is amazing but I haven't seen a copy when I have been out and about.
