The egg from an evolutional standpoint, the chicken from a creationist standpoint, I think.

Re this contest:  think we can count the eggs before they've hatched, and we're gonna have to accept some rotten eggs and realise at the same time that you can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs, but basically, anyway you put it, this egg battle is ova!

Zappa zapped Zero. Not that that's anything to be proud of since a zero is a big fat egg, but the Univers is even bigger, Frankly.

Absolutely. HOW can albums like "Weasels Ripped My Flesh", "The Grand Wazoo", "Overnight Sensation", "Apostrophe", and (my personal favorite) "One Size Fits All" be topped by a newcomer like UZ?

Sorry. In cross-section of listeners who were weaned on the above albums by Zappa and the Mothers, it's gonna be FZ hands-down.
Newcomer? Huh?

Don't go my post count. Look when I JOINED.

That's not what he meant. Just check what you wrote first: "...newcomer like UZ?" That's what has been criticised from your post.

Well, all the same, pup, every one of those albums I mentioned came out before the first UZ album, so my misinterpretation aside, I still made a valid point, in relative terms. Before UZ released their 1st, Zappa had (go ahead, count them) 17 releases.

So I guess there is some validity to my ORIGINAL remark after all. No?

I'm kind of  surprised that you could give newcomers like The Tangent, Marillion, Spock's Beard and Porcupine Tree such high ratings considering how newcomerish they are. Just kidding, I'm not drawing a really fair statement based on your question. But if I start a Univers Zero vs. The Tangent poll, I'd appreciate it if you would adapt your question to say something like, "How can albums like "Univers Zero", "Heresie" and "Ceux du Dehors" be topped by a newcomer like The Tangent?" Just for fun of course.
