(just to mention a couple big names) i would say that they abandon the math rock with this release, not completely, but anyway i wouldn't call it math rock anymore, maybe more indie like something.

I would not call battles math rock in the strictest sence ither however, nor the new 65dos release. However I think this is good. It keeps the genre from falling prey to "post-rock syndrome" in which 90% of new bands sound like one or two older bands. Math-rock has not even come close to becoming as stale.

hey post-y dudes, particularly those who enjoy drone or noisy stuff, What are your thoughts on Glen Branca? I only had his album "Acension" for the longest time and while it is borderline post (think the droney parts of _on limpid form) his other stuff is killer and more ... i dont know, posty. Check out his Symphonies.

I don't know him and by your description it would be difficult to get him in; other similar composers were suggested but to no avail. I'll try to check him out, though.

I you have heard some A Silver M.Zion before you should try Collapse Tradixionales (more in the Horses In The Sky kind than the 13 blues style...)
