You have 2 gold. You can do a few things:
1. Try to sell your equipment to other players at a cheaper rate than the list price.
2. Ask someone with deep pockets for a loan (and you would pay them back a set amount).
3. Gamble. 
I'm thinking of adding a way that you can gamble on other people's matches. What do you all think of that?

I think you should make a bet limit though, otherwise, people will earn more money betting for the matches than participating in them.

(In other words, if you stake one gold on Syrinx, and Syrinx wins, you win 2 gold in addition to getting your stake back. If you stake one gold on War, and War wins, you get 1 gold in addition to getting your stake back).
