Hugh Hopper of these, I think. But I'd like to mention Buster Williams for his acoustic and electric bass work. And I love the guys SaltyJon mentioned.

From this list my vote goes to Jonas Reingold, but my personal favorites are Clifford Lee Burton, Gary Lee Weinrib and Gary Thain.

Last time I said Hugh Hopper...I think I'll stick with him, though I'm incredibly tempted to switch to Richard Sinclair. I might do that too.
Others I enjoy: Philippe Bussonnet, Jannick Top, Bernard Paganotti, Sasaki Hisashi, Kazuyoshi Kimoto, Kengo Sakamoto, and Nasuno Mitsuru. They're all in various Zeuhl/Avant Garde bands. Indeed, the first three are all excellent bassists who played with Magma, and the rest played in various groups with Yoshida Tatsuya.

Chris Squire has been my favorite bass player since I heard my first Yes album.

I'm still going to vote for Squire, although I think there are several listed here who are better than he is. Namely, McCormick, Jones, and Pastorius.

Sorry for my first vote...
Chris Squire is naturally for me the best bass player . And then is Ray Sulman, the brillant bassist- violonist-guitarist-flautist-singer-trumpetist !
If you like some other bassists, name them please and check a "default" player in the above list. Thank you.
