Here’s a Sky News story about prog rock and the High Voltage Festival where ELP are reforming to play. It’s full of generalisations about prog but it’s nice to see the mainstream media acknowledging its existence. I was very surprised at John Lydon’s negative comments in the video since he’s a fan of Van Der Graaf Generator but I guess he’s still trying to portray himself as the rebellious punk rocker. |

Lydon has the usual glint in his eye! ''Prog rock?? More like Turd Rock!!''
Great rehearsal footage of ELP. Getting some serious goosebumps now.

I think John Lydon is against more stereotypical prog. I mean he likes Magma and Can for Pete's sake.

He did 'do lunch' with Keith Emerson a few years ago.I think his so called hatred of prog is just inertia and living up to expectations to some extent. He reformed the Sex Pistols to make money so his reservations about bands harking back to the past is hilarious!

That Susan Boyle joke made me laugh much harder than it should have. And Touchstone was an odd choice, I'd never even heard of them before and they aren't very good and they're a little embarrassing. Obviously you're not going to score an interview with Radiohead, and The Mars Volta are too far away, but I think Oceansize and Pure Reason Revolution are under 30, although they aren't conveniently located in London.

Good to see ELP going at it. Greg Lake does look like he could afford to miss a meal or 3!
Don't really give a s*$t what John Lydon says!

Not a bad feature, and good publicity. I quite like touchstone, so nice to see a newish band there, in contrast to Greg Lakes ever expanding waistline
As for Lydon - what a t**ser. Harking back to the past? PiL tour or Pistols reunion, anyone?? |

Punk revivals are the most pretentious revivals of all. The whole ethos of punk, is about being young and angry, not old and bitter. There's a difference.
I thought Touchstone are a good example of a young prog band, and they are certainly the youngest prog band at this fest. I've seen them a few time, and I think they're pretty damn good live! As for Mr Lake. I barely recognised him!! He definitely needs to cut down on the pies, bless him. Carl Palmer looked in good form as ever. Even tough I've never been a huge fan of ELP, I bet they will knock me out live. I'm looking forward to them...and Opeth...the most. Here's hoping we get the whole of Tarkus! That's true, I can't argue with that. But how is that you saw them the second time when you didn't like them?
