Topic: Feedback for my band Posted: June 21 2010 at 20:38 |
Hello everyone! I suppose I will get straight to the point, recently two of my friends and I decided t0 form a band which is still nameless. Anyway we have rough recodings of three songs(the link is below). Anyway the first track is a short start to the album, the second is really the first legitimate song and the third is an instrumental. We take incredible influence from prog and believe that we oursleves are in a way a prog band. As a whole what we really need is feedback on these rough recordings that we have. I'd love to hear any feedback that anybody has be it positive, negative or anywhere in between. Also please let me thank you in advance for your help with making our band better.

Please feel free to post any sort of critiques, all we want is to get better and we believe that this is a good way to do so.

Have not heard the music but you should seriously call your band Still Nameless. I'm not being facetious, I think it actually works as a name.

Thanks for the suggestion, we shall take it into consideration. Any comments you have once you've heard the music are much appreciated.

Very good stuff in my humble opinon. I love the Sabbath-esque riff at the beginning of "Cambridge Caterwaul," and I really enjoy the vocals on that song as well.

I do my best to be constructive on any post, so here goes: Where you stand musically is more "alternative" in style than Prog. It seems your music is thus far undefined, like you are really just jamming and hoping to find a flow that works. I know you guys are just starting out, but I would recommend you write out some parts, think about the components for each song (bridge/chorus, etc.) and the end product. Just work on the song writing skills rather than jamming until something magically happens. You had some form of a song in your second number - the first number was really just ambient something ... the third song just kind of existed.
Good luck as your form your band and develop your skills.

Thank you for the help. Actually the first song was meant to lead into the second but the sites software didn't allow us to play them without pause. In my opinion the only legitimate song was number two, the third was a jam just for fun. Thank you for the help though any kind of criticism is good for us.
