Hello everyone, I've just submitted LÜGER for inclusion in progarchives records, but I'd like to know your opinions about them since they may not fit into just one particular category. I might be totally wrong, as I'm a mess when it comes to categorizing, so I'll let you decide. You can listen or download their debut album from http://luger.bandcamp.com This is the info I sent to the progarchives folks Lüger is a Madrid-based quintet formed by Diego (guitar, main vocals), Dani (bass, vocals), Mario (organ, synth, vocals), Rulo (drums, samplers, effects, vocals) and Lopin (floor tom, metal sheets, percussion). They play or played in other bands such as Los Imposibles, The Awesome J'Haybers, Tres Delicias, Steelwood or Jet Lag, although Lüger is by far the most psychedelic of them all. First jam was back in Dec 2008, first show in March 2009. After playing a bunch of shows with the likes of The Intelligence, Shooting Spires, Blues Control or Rosvita, they recorded their first LP in September 2009 with famous Spanish producer Paco Loco in El Puerto de Santa Maria, Cadiz, then premixed by Paco and John Agnello. It was mixed and mastered by Ruben Suarez at Red Led studios in Madrid. The LP will be released on April 15th, 2010, but it is also free to download off the band's bandcamp site http://luger.bandcamp.com. They are signed to Spanish underground label/promoter Giradiscos (www.giradiscos.org) Heavily influenced by classic acts such as Hawkwind, Faust or Neu!, their sound is however rather modern. Their high-energy songs could remind you of modern-day psych-heads Oneida, Wooden Shjips or The Black Angels Myspace site: http://www.myspace.com/ Bandcamp site: http://luger.bandcamp.com *edit: slight changes and additions in the bio Edited by acidmamma - March 24 2010 at 20:30 |

Now checked their free album ...
Good stuffs, the sound-minimized uptempo spacey style mainly based on a keen keyboard and exploded guitars solos ... fit for Space Rock subgenre and also Krautrock I feel, as you say. First I've taken Lüger to Psych/Space chart. They will be evaluated by the team ... please wait in no hurry. ![]() |

Oh and sorry for writing the band name in capital letters when I first posted it, I did not notice that rule. I've edited again as it is Lüger with the " on top of the u. Hope it's ok!

good album!
![]() when listening to this, French band Turzi spontaneously came into my mind. There are some spacey and psychedelic elements for sure - however Lüger's songs have a surpassing krautrock component in my opinion, the repetitive attitude, the (industrial) stoic rhythm work with obvious NEU! and Faust leanings I would see this band better listed under krautrock - unfortunately Turzi have been rejected some time ago, so I'm not sure what will work here ... |

![]() Turzi is a great band ... in Oliver's wineceller family (One Switch To Collision, Kill For Total Peace, etc.). Anyway, great job ... they can be included in Progarchives anytime soon I think. ![]() |

I'm only at the third track but I have to say this is outstanding! I didn't like the electronic part at the opening, but when they rock, they do it most awesomely.
Highly recommended FREE album. |
