Classic Rock Presents Prog magazine

I found issue #7 on the shelves of the newstand and opened the wallet and leafed through it

What does Issue 7 have on the cover?

It's fantastic there's a mag on the shelves which writes articles on the music I actually care about and none on the music I don't care about.

I agree with both of you whole-heartedly - of course it's not perfect, no magazine is; and of course it's not cheap outside the UK (it's not that cheap inside the UK ) & yes, you may know the facts presented in some of the articles... but not everyone will.

Personally - subscribed to the mag & looking forward to the next issue; those who don't like it, leave it on the shelves for someone who does

I work at WH Smiths and today sold this magazine to a local musician who is friends with Tim Palmer (producer of In Absentia), we had a good natter about prog, which was a lovely surprise during work. (even though he called petrucci a 'soul-less git').

Got to say this Magazine is exccelent. I only came across it when I saw No.5 in WH Smiths. I have managed to get hold of isuues 2,3 & 4 and of course have since purchased 6 & 7. I love the CD's that come with the mags, they heve put me on to whole new journey of discovery in the world of Prog. If I like a track or if there is an article in the mags highlighting a band that sounds interesting, I'm straight on Spotify looking to see if I can find more. Some of the bands I currently have on my playlists are Porcupine Tree, IQ, Mostly Autumn, Also Eden, Touchstone, Karmakanic and 2 of my favorites at the moment - Magenta & Steve Thorne. Many may have been fans of or familiar of the above but leading the sheltered life as I do sometimes , I have not. So this has reawakend my love of prog.

I know there has been som critisism of issue 7 but to be honest I thought it was one of the best so far. A lot of it was given over to bands I hadnt heard of and am now in the process of checking some of them out, some of whom are really good. The Peter Gabriel focus was good as I went to see him recently at the O2 and was a good read.

I think as a magazine published every 2 months, its perfect takinginto account conten and price. If it went to monthly, they would have to do something about the price, especaily as I am sure they would be unable to maintain the quality. At long last us old proggers have something to smile about .

PS AtomicCrimsonRush, Icelandic Volcanos permitting, I am flying out to Oz next week so if you are in the Perth area, I could try and grab you a copy of issue 7 (if there are any left)
