Topic: Early Helmut Koellen Posted: April 20 2010 at 17:44 |
In the big world of progressive rock, my all-time favourite musician-"the star on my progressive rock firmament" is the late musician-singer-songwriter Helmut Koellen, best known as a member of Germany's Triumvirat, and later involved with the group Jail, and after that, a solo album released after his death in 1977. In a bio of Triumvirat on the net, it stated that Helmut was involved in various groups in the Cologne, Germany area, before joining his cousin Jurgen Fritz in Triumvirat in 1973. I am curious to know if anyone connected with PA might shed some light on these early music years of Helmut's-maybe someone who knew about him way back then, and might have some memories of his pre-Triumvirat music days they would like to share. A heckuva long time ago, but any info would be endearing for me. This fellow's music is a constant source of meaning and inspiration for me, and i am sure always will-RIP, Helmut!
