The Rain Song - Led Zeppelin (It's prog, isn't it? Look at all the time signatures, and even a pretty mellotron! :p)
Evening Star - Fripp/Eno (not exactly prog?)
Trio - King Crimson
Out-Bloody-Rageous - Soft Machine

and maybe in Freedom - Anekdoten..

"Tubular Bells", by Mike Oldfield.

I just wish I was around to see the looks on everyone's face when that Exorcist music kicks in.:)

A rather predictable:

Dream Theater - The Spirit Carries On

Not only are they my favourite band, but the song is also one of my faves of theirs.

Soon, O Soon The Light... pass within and soothe this endless night.
That would get the "mourners" weeping in the pews Cry  Big smile

I also knew a woman who sadly died of cancer  who had  "Life is for Living" by Barclay James Harvest played at her funeral.  An uplifting and yet poignant song in the circumstances. She wanted to send out a positive message to those she left behind.

I know a couple who's 10 year old son died suddenly.  They played "Stairway to Heaven" and Ozzie's "See You On the Other Side".

Everyone there thought that was tasteless.

Because of the special circumstances, I would have to agree with the masses. What were the parents thinking????????Embarrassed

You've got to be kidding me. If that's the kind of music they like, they have every right to play it. Whoever came up with idea of sappy organ music for funerals in the first place was a dick.

If I did have a funeral, I certainly wouldn't want old-school church hymns being played over dusty pipes. But the thing is, I'm gonna be cremated then swept into a trash can when I die. So a funeral would not be possible.

If the plans change, though, I'll let you know and you can come be my death DJ Wink

"Child-like Faith in Childhood's End" of course.  If that's too cynical, then maybe "Refugees" would be nice.
