The only album I haven't been able to find is Miriodor--still looking!  Avanti! is wonderful.  Make them proud!

Me, I even tought about it recently. One of my favourite bands from here. Maybe MY favourite, and their bio is very small. As I know Nicolas Masino, I might ask him for some help as well... And now that I'm in the ZART, it is even more justified LOL
It's sad, their only album I don't have is Rencontres, because it's not available anymore. I even found Miriodor, which is also dicontinued.
Do you like their latest?

As I'm busy reviewing the latest Miriodor album.... I noticed that the biography is quite poor and too short, for a major group like them.... Anyone care to re-write it???

I don't think so but they should.

I think they've been suggested.
probably a long time ago....
(Actually I'm a little surprized they're not in)... so I'll back it up, but who is pushing it???

L'infonie should be in Avant prog or in psych prog. imho

I'll give them a shot (been a while since I listened to them) and let you know.
If I think they belong in Avant (but I have to listen first, as I said), I'll suggest and give them a first "Yes" vote.
I'll come back to you about that.

I always thought they were avant-guard/RIO.Sure early Gong is an apt comparison but The Mothers to.

hm.. I'll probably submit them this week and see what happens. i have all their records and i think they would at least fall under prog-related... To me they're like the Quebecois version of Gong

for you. I discovered maybe the earliest Quebec prog album from a band called
"The Medium" from 1969. They made the soundtrack of the cult film by Claude Jutra
"Wow" and judging the music in this soundtrack, it's very progressive. Their music
remind me of The Nice.

Here's a link with informations with tracks from their sole album and a  link to watch
the Claude Jutra film.

I do agree that The Medium were among the first band of prog nature in Québec, but they were more of the proto-prog tinged psychedelia nature than genuine prog rock IMHO.
Others would argue that L'Infonie were proggin out as early as 1967 for that matter!
The Medium,no question should be on PA but I still believe that WD.Fisher delivered an album that was closer to prog as we came to know it(Beggars Opera,Rare Bird,Gracious,Spring, early Yes and Genesis....) than the Medium who's brand of rock owes as much to Iron Butterfly,Steppenwolf,Vanilla Fudge and other period psych as it does to The Nice who also owes a lot to psych.
Tha is not to put down The Medium or your fine opinion though.I do agree that The Medium were pioneers in Québec.Wink
The problem will be finding samples for The Medium  (I've never heard, but according to the date, I was 5 and still in Europe) so we can have the admins judge if they fit with proto-prog? but generally the Admins are slightly less strict  for proto than related (for obvious reasons too)

WD fisher is beyond proto-prog times so they will be less a problem.

Bernard Falaise has been cleared by the ZART for inclusion in Avant-Prog.
I'm preparing his biography.
