I think a little of both factored in, there.
But who knows? Micky is quite a strange cat. Hard to tell when he's kidding sometimes. ![Tongue Tongue](smileys/smiley17.gif)

I dont think such an absolute concept can exist, every band is potentialy harmfull, like every food could be a poison no matter how great it taste.....and none of the bands i love have just great records...they always have some scratch ( no refering to rap, the genere is a scratch in itself ) ![LOL LOL](https://www.progarchives.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif) .
Examples: The Doors "Soft Parade"
Hamill -everything except Pawn hearts..just an exageration ![Embarrassed Embarrassed](https://www.progarchives.com/forum/smileys/smiley9.gif)
Led Zep- Dyer Maker
Yes- Tormato.
Genesis- Phil Collins singing.
Pink Floyd- everything except Piper, Sourceful, ummagumma and Animals.
Caravan-like almost everything anyway you have things like Love to love.

I suppose that im album fanboy rather than a group fan boy.
I really like "Love" but they have some really weak numbers.

I'm glad someone mentioned Jean Luc Ponty and Bruce Cockburn. I would have to add Traffic. Floyd comes close. Also JT and Rush. Boy, Yes must have upset a lot of people.

I have to say VDGG almost because apart from the debut every album is a killer. the same goes for Dream Theater but they blew it on their first albums big time.
Rush are close but Presto was a disaster. Snakes and Arrows did not blow my skirt up either tho it was OK.
Yes are certainly one band who are essnetial to me but hey petered out at Union and that era.
I dint think anyband can do no wrong for me
Genesis in their early years of course would be but when Collins took over with Invisible Touch and We cant dance - no way!
Riverside only have a few albums and they are all excellent so maybe thats the answer.

Anekdoten, Riverside, Opeth, In the Woods..., Fall of Efrafa and Tenhi are bands that spring to mind. I also love Marillion's entire Fish-era. I would have included Porcupine Tree until a year ago, but The Incident was a major disappointment.

Rush. Not huge on Test For Echo.
But what other band has 19 studio albums, and don't sound like a washed up moneygrab?

It does not say "prog" bands.....so for me Scorpions can do no wrong when I look at their entire catalog, studio albums only.
Prog/related bands:
Genesis, even post Abacab is good to me.
Iron Maiden, skip the non BD time frame.
Rush.
Ofcourse NO band is 100%
