Hello!  My friend, Ray Bennett, has posted to his MySpace page that his reformed band Flash includes a new lineup.

In addition to Bennett on 6-string guitar and Colin Carter on vocals, Ray lists the following:

Flash's new members: Mark Pardy - drums, Wayne Carver - bass, Rick Daugherty - keys, doing a fantastic job.

Let's wish them well!  Check out the Flash site, and Ray's site on MySpace for new tunes as these are being posted!  Cheers and Happy Holidays, Chuck

Hi,

I'm not too excited about this at all ... well, I might be if they have those nice Hipgnosis foldout covers that I ripped up and had in my wall for so long ... they were better than any Playboy fold outs I ever saw! ...

Oh, btw ... the music had nothing on those 2 pictures ... not even close!
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

Indeed!  This is Ray's MySpace message to me:

Hey Chuck,
Best Christmas and New Years wishes to you and yours also.
Hope all is going well.

Sherry came down to our rehearsal last week and shot some video.

Only the second day of rehearsal with this full line up.

Drummer Mark Pardy is a fellow Brit, he played on my CD "Whatever Falls".
And, as I said, Rick on keys and Wayne on bass are great, fitting in really well and doing a great job.

We haven't paid very much attention to vocals yet, so the three part harmony stuff is not there yet, but all the pieces are falling into place.  Everyone is really pumped and raring to get out and gig.

Be sure to check out Ray's MySpace pages for new tunes etc.  I like what I hear!  It is a different sound than what they did with Peter Banks, but hey, times change.

Happy Holidays!

If you want to embed a Youtube video, just type [.tube][./tube] with the youtube page between, no periods.
It'll end up like this:

You don't even need the full url, I just copy and paste the last part, for example, if the url is http://www.youtube.com/v/7Jhbb7OI0o8 then I type:

[.tube]7Jhbb7OI0o8[./tube] without periods of course.

Pretty amazing. Colin's still got it and with Ray taking Mr. B's part I think he's gained more of it!

THANKS GUYS!!  Glad you like the YouTube clip, the band sounds remarkably like the Banks-era version!

Ray just let me know that more YouTube studio clips and recorded material are on the way, so watch for these coming up.

Bennett was truly a driving, creative force in Flash (which has often been characterized as "Banks' band").  It was much more than a Banks project.

They had a cool way of composing, with many pieces composed around Bennett's bass lines laid down first!!   This is a cool interview with Ray and Colin:

I'll post the second part later.  Have a nice weekend!

Flash are not good or allright, they are great!
Somewhat tacky album covers, but the music therein is of a very high quality-i listen to them more than Yes.
