if I may play the devil's advocate, I picked up the Mashmakhan debut LP (very scratched, but I use a separate cheaper turntable for those).
And if I may ... I don't see much prog there. No folk for sure, little Psych maybe, a stretch for Heavy prog for their longer tunes.

Another band that comes to mind;

Montreal, I would argue, is probably the capital city for vinyl (in terms of record stores per capita).

That means that if your patient enough, you can find find almost anything for decent prices. In terms of Quebec Prog, we also have a geographical advantage.

I got a copy of L'Infonie's Vol 3 a few months ago for 10$



Walter Boudreau and Raoul Duguay from l'Infonie performed Terry Rilley's in C in a church here last year. It was a little too didactic but interesting nonetheless.  333 participants! 

You should check out Vol. 33 (Mantra) if you are curious to hear a 1970 rendition of In C by Boudreau and his friends. (Not pure Prog but close enough)

I agree that there are some fine record stores  in Montreal,but it's still hard to find some rare and obscure treasures such as Agape,Medium,WD.Fisher,Eden,1001 est Crémazie,ect... at an affordable price.

I do agree that The Medium were among the first band of prog nature in Québec,but they were more of the proto-prog tinged psychedelia nature than genuine prog rock IMHO.
