Alright, I haven't seen a top X for this and decided to make it.Basically, your top 5 symphonical prog songs/epics, I'm not talking about symphonic prog (well I am really lol) I'm talking more about those songs that are mostly made up of some orchestral work (most of the type of songs I'm talking about come with orchestras or something like that lol) accompanied with rock which really carry a unique and beautiful sound that simply just flows together, that is simply harmonic, here I'll list my top 5 and maybe you'll get the idea:

1- Histoires Sans Paroles - Harmonium (I love this song)
2- Fand - The Enid
3- Salisbury - Uriah Heep
4- Hamburger Concerto - Focus
5- Pictures at an Exhibition - ELP

So, you get the idea lol

EDIT- Here I found another way of putting it, your top 5 most classically influenced prog lol, see if that helps.

Symphonic, Eclectic, and RPI are all of high interest to me.  Glad to see this thread!

1. Gates of Delirium - Yes
2  A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers - The almighty Van der Graaf Generator
3. Tarkus - ELP
4. Larks Tongue in Aspic 1 & 2 - King Crimson
5.  Send a Message from the Heart - Karmakanic

These are probably considered " epics" as well......

Time will do its healing, you've got to let it go.

I like many many bands and song that would fit this description, many of which are already listed, and trying to make a list for myself would be a bit difficult. However I've not seen Myths and Legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table by Rick Wakeman here, and it's one of my favourites. And many of you would surely enjoy Yes's Symphonic Live DVD, really great concert and a must for any Yes fan (including my very favourit version of Gates of Delirium and Close to the Edge, which I've seen listed here more than once).

I agree with this, I'm going to have to list more lol.

Arthur - Rick Wakeman
Revealing Science of God - Yes
Journey (live) - Rick Wakeman
Atom Heart Mother - Pink Floyd (the first 4 minutes always blow my mind)
The Odyssey (Intro/First 5-6 minutes) - Symphony X (I don't like hard metal or anything to do with it, but the orchestral work on this song is simply amazing)

As for Symphonic as the OP described:

1. Concerto for Group & Orchestra: First Movement - Deep Purple
2. Hymn to Him - Mahavishnu Orchestra
3. Salisbury - Uriah Heep
4. Windows - Jon Lord
5. Fanfare for the Common Man - ELP

As for the sub-genre in PA:

1. The Revealing Science of God - Yes
2. Supper's Ready - Genesis
3. All of the Above - Transatlantic
4. Nous Sommes Du Soleil - Yes
5. I Am the Sun - The Flower Kings

Just posting epics, if I were to choose songs below the 15 minute mark it would be too hard.

I saw alot of my own favorites amongst the posts, so I just gotta throw my 2c in...

1. Supper's Ready - Genesis (my all-time favorite epic song)
2. Tubular Bells Part I - Mike Oldfield
3. Journey to the Centre of the Earth - Rick Wakeman
4. Salisbury - Uriah Heep
5. Karn Evil 9 1st, 2nd & 3rd Impression - ELP
6. Hemispheres - Rush (and the album cover is awesome!)
7. Scheherezade - Renaissance
8. War of the Worlds - Jeff Wayne
9. The Snow Goose - Camel
10. Echoes - Pink Floyd

It's actually very hard to rate all these great works because there are so many other songs by the same people that I love nearly as much... Selling England, Close to the Edge, Piano Concerto No. 1, Six Wives, Myths and Legends, etc., etc., etc.

Holy carp, this is a tough one...

1. "Hamburger Concerto" by Focus (This one won hands down)
2. "The Pinnacle" by Kansas
3. The "Atom Heart Mother" Suite by Pink Floyd
4. "To Be Over" by Yes
5. "Firth of Fifth" by Genesis
6. "Octavarium" by Dream Theater (a very symphonic song, believe me)
7. "Victorian Brickwork" by Big Big Train
8. "The Battle" (from "Journey to the Centre of the Earth") by Rick Wakeman
9. "Song for America" by Kansas
10. "At the End of the Day" by Spock's Beard

Keep in mind, the order of these is subject to change at any time...
