Just bought tickets for Transatlantic's show in Philadelphia at the Theatre of the Living Arts on April 24.

I am super psyched for this show!

I hope you guys stateside will be able to get to one of the shows too.  Henk, there's even a night at Tilburg which you might be able to make?

Great news this is though.  This will undoubtedly be a big earner for the band and if there's a dvd to follow it might generate enough cash for Roine to fund a new TFK album too (please).

I booked tickets for Shepherd's Bush Empire at 9am this morning as soon as they went on sale.

I wouldn't hang around if I were you as I think they'll go pretty fast Wink

Sorted Wink.

Now we need to work out who we want as the support act.  Or do we get 3 hours of Transatlantic instead Tongue

Roj, amusingly enough, if I could swing it, I'd much rather see them in London for a couple of reasons:

1)  I've never been to England, let alone Europe, I'd love to do the tourist bit
2)  I could probably pick up about five other great progressive concerts while I was there
3)  There would be the hanging out at the pub with you and Barney afterwards, getting . . . I believe that 'pissed' is the appropriate term.

Sadly, putting the whole thing on a credit card is really not a viable option . . . maybe next year buddy.

Nah Tom, the Manchester option would be better as it's much closer for Barney and I LOL.  I'm afraid you don't get that many prog gigs here though either.  This year I've managed IQ, DT plus the Download Festival (not much prog there Angry but plenty of good bands).

Perhaps after all the London gig would be a good idea.  We could all indeed get pissed, Nov will be there to join in too.  Either that or us lot head Stateside for 3RP or Nearfest LOL.  Yeah, like you say, maybe next year!

Which is exactly what I did at the ReGenesis gig at the same venue a few weeks ago Wink

We had a few beers in O'Neill's (next door to the venue) before the show. This included meeting and having a chat with Steve Hackett by the way. Then we had a few beers during the gig and then another couple for good measure back in O'Neill's after the (excellent) concert.

Overdid it a bit to be honest and I was hopeless company on the way for the very kind lady who drove us all the way there and back from Cambridgeshire Embarrassed

I'm happy to repeat this performance on 21st May though LOL

Roj, there is a good chance that Mrs Lazland & I could be at Manchester as well. It's only about four hopurs from here, and it could be a once in a lifetime. Will keep you updated, but it would be great to have a few beers before the gig!!

Merry Christmas to all.

A great post Clap

Indeed, a great big Merry Christmas to all.  And for you Barney, hope you enjoyed your celebration a few days ago at Stonehenge, or was it Avebury Circle?

Seriously, all the best to everybody.  I hope Santa brings you everything you would want.  For Barney, I shudder to think what that would mean......................LOL

That sounds great!  Chances of a big PA TFK thread meet up then.  My wife is coming to the gig too (she's not mad on prog but likes a little bit).  The great thing about The Academy is the bar is inside the room itself so you can drink as much as you like while watching the band Tongue.  Good, eh Smile.

^^ Thanks Roj, I'm rather hopeful to find Darwin's Radio under the tree tomorrow morning.  There are already three suspiciously shaped packages waiting for me so I'm fairly excited.

^ Shoot, now I really want to go to the Manchester Show.  This year is not the time, but at some point once we're in a bit better shape financially, I'm totally going to bring the family over to the isles to meet you all.  Maybe for a Flower Kings show in 2011?  we can be hopeful no?

I hope the Darwin's Radio cd is there for you, I'm sure you'll enjoy that one.  On the other hand I've not even looked at my bag of pressies.  Safe to say the "wish list" I gave my wife was pretty special Wink.

I'll tell you something Tom, if you and your family got over here and we all met up that really would be fab.  If it was for a TFK show, well that would be even better.  We'll all just have to hope Roine and Co get it together in the next year or so Tongue.

So santa was good to me (seven CD's though nothing FK related).  To those on here that like Frost*, I'd like to second Roj's recommendation for Darwin's Radio's "Template for a Generation".

Great stuff there and thanks for the recommendation Roj.  Here's something you don't hear from me every day.  The keyboards are excellent.  I love what Mark Westworth does on this CD.  I didn't have much of an opinion on Mr. Westworth's keyboard work after Frequency as I was very suspicious of what was his vs. what was originally written by Mr. Orford.  I'll be honest, the Darwin's Radio CD has me kind of excited for the next IQ CD, when ever that may be.  I think his keys will nudge the band in a slightly different direction which could be good.

Roj, thanks again for the recommendation, great stuff.

I think I'll turn up at the Transatlantic Gig with a Dawkins/Darwin Themed T-shirt on ! Tongue
Anyway I hope everybody has had a very nice mid-winter feast, I basically ate until I could eat no more, then drank some beer and fell asleep.....
Xmas CD list is
Amarok - Mike Oldfield
Shadow Gallery - Shadow Gallery
Digital Ghosts - Shadow Gallery
Book of the Dead - K2
? - Neil Morse
Neal Morse Live...
To be delivered - I am - by Thomas Bodin.
Also got a good book "The Jesus Mysteries" - Not one for closed minded bible-bashers I reckon.......

P.S - My Mother in Law now belives in "Angels" - a lot of women are being hooked into this and a few people are making a lot of money out of this...Why didn't I think of it first Cool
I was going to tell her that I'd only believe in my Guardian Angel if she looked like Megan Fox and gave me a blow-job....The wife managed to convince me that this was a bad thing to say to her deluded mother....
Hey Ho - Heres to 2010 - Year of the prog (again)........
Good night.....

OK, I'll play too.  Here's my list of Christmas cds (awesome Tongue) - many many thanks to my wife, sister (Proggy Pogo on PA) and dad.

Kaipa - Keyholder
Transatlantic - The Whirlwind (special 3 disc edition Tongue)
Wobbler - Hinterland
Boards Of Canada - A Beautiful Place In The Country
Boards Of Canada - Twoism
Phideaux - Number Seven
Tomas Bodin - Pinup Guru
Tomas Bodin - Sonic Boulevard
Autechre - Tri Repetae
Dream Theater - Falling Into Infinity
Opeth - Deliverance
Opeth - Still Life
Beardfish - Sleeping In Traffic Part 1
PT - Lightbulb Sun (special edition)

Good list eh?

So far I've only checked out a few.  After two listens the Phideaux album has made a huge impression on me.  The first part (Dormouse Ensnared) is absolutely out of this world and this is now a contender for album of the year for me.

I've heard Deliverance twice too.  The first two tracks are absolutely superb and the title track (which I remember so well when I saw them live recently) is as good a prog metal track as I've heard.

The Wobbler album absolutely reeks of early 70s prog but will need a few listens methinks.

The Whirlwind sounded good but didn't really sink in on first spin, although it was the last album on a full day of listening so I may have been burned out a bit by then LOL.

^ Great list, I haven't heard many of them but there's a lot of great names up there.

What is the band "Boards of Canada" like.  I've not heard much about them.
