Bands That Can Do No Wrong

I'm going to have to beat the Talisma drum again...

If this was 1989 and not 2009, I'd say Manfred Mann's Earth Band, but alas the only band that can do no wrong for me after thinking about it is Symphony X.

They are not my favorite band and yet I feel all 7 of their studio albums and 1 live album are excellent with nary a song that "does wrong". From the first album w/o Sir Russell Allen all the way up to Paradise Lost, it's all clear of "wrong-doing".

Regarding bands with a smaller discography: Riverside definately and--I haven't seen this band on here yet--EPICA. They have produced 4 steller studio albums plus 1 fantastic live album and suffice it to say, I believe they will keep concocting exceptional albums well into the 2010's.

Agreed! The only bands that I think could approach this category proposed by the OP are ones who made only one or two albums that were both stellar, then never made an album again.

Tough question, but I'll go with Deep Purple and King Crimson, because even their less satisfactory albums (like "Slaves and Masters" and "Three of a Perfect Pair") have good moments.

I agree with Catfood03, some bands best and most memorable work is their first album, which they then spend the rest of their career trying to live up too.

On a personal note, I don't have a band that has done no wrong, but have several that I admire the quality of what they produced, whether it is for its innovative style (1st Pink Floyd album) or development (Jethro Tull).

Music is such a personal thing, that only the listener themselves and not a forum group, can decide if a band is worthy of the accolaides we individually bestow on them.

Miles Davis especially in the 70'S. I've never heard anything so perfect.

Marillion and Fish, though I have to admit some things have had to grow on me, but at this moment, nothing from either of those artists is average or less than to me. Including live CD's, bootlegs, DVD's, etc. Sometimes the soundquality of the bootlegs get's the best of my ears, but I can't blame the band for it seeing as they haven't really released the material that I am referring to and they even haven't had a hand in recording it, so...
