My one obligatory post in here.

Away with me.

Seriously though, I'm not sure what you mean.

I am in the symphonic category, which is now what I am required to write.

I'm only halfway in...it's Pink Floyd meets Kansas meets Alice in Chains meets Magma.

Who am I kidding....it's the same old sh*t.  If you don't like STW, don't expect to enjoy this.

Wait, I have a message.

Please Epignosis that is not even prog rock.  You need to try harder.  Try to mimic Peter Gabriel.  Wear a costume while you record or something.  I will be monitoring your progress severely.

Rofl

I can understand you not liking this album, Henry. It's pretty avant-garde, but at the same time it's probably too rooted in extreme metal for some avant-garde fans to enjoy it.

I liked STW, but I just haven't been into symph. lately. In fact, I think I will relisten to that Albert Ayler album Henry told me to listen to.

You want me to spill all the beans, don't you?

See, Jay (Negoba) was teasing me and said some "avant metal" wouldn't hurt any (or something like that)...

...well, sh*t, I thought.  Why the hell not?

That's why this EP will be free.  Big smile

Edit: But yes, it will be largely symphonic rock- it's what I like to do right now.

I remember him saying that Pain of Salvation might be a good band for you to try, but nothing about avant metal... Ermm

It was in a different thread than that.

Jay was teasing me (I edited my above post), but I might take him up on it.  It will be fun, if anything, to just to see what I come up with.

If it sucks, it was free, right?

And if it doesn't, I'm dating Miley Cyrus.

Win win.

In fact...I already have a title for the "avant metal" section.  Big smile

Can't do that yet.

I wound up getting to buy Transatlantic's new one and The Tangent's Not as Good as the Book.

My wife forbids me from buying anything else until she has a dining room table.

Sounds interesting, Scott. I will have to pick it up at some point.

To bring up the conversation I had with the RIO-lovers last night, I just finished listening to "In Praise of Learning."  I'm still not feeling it, but maybe one day it will click.
