Topic: Super tacky Google search addition to album pages Posted: November 02 2009 at 23:26 |
Maybe I'm really late on this, but I just noticed that between the song and lineup information there are two bold subsections for the Google search for the lyrics and tabs for that album. I have several huge problems with this
The placement makes it extremely annoying because I don't care about the lyrics and tabs for Tangerine Dream, if I'm looking at that section of the page I want to know who plays on the damn album. More importantly, aren't lyrics and tabs sites of dubious legality at best? The admins always warn us about posting full lyrics and tabs so we don't get in trouble with The Man, so how does it make sense to then have a link to them displayed more prominently than the album's lineup, much less at all? It also cheapens PA because it makes us look like one of those lyrics sites that is willing to make things almost unreadable as long as it generates a tiny bit more ad revenue.
Also, why is there a plain text ad for Trans-Siberian Orchestra and AC/DC tickets from vividseats.com at the beginning of the prog metal definition?

I've noticed this, but I thought it was semi-helpful, although I usually get lyrics out of the album art if they're supplied.
I don't really think its a problem in all honesty, and I've never found it distracting or annoying.

Well I am a formatting Nazi and I do not like contradictions so these things bother me more than perhaps they should.
Nobody else cares? So sad. :(
Also, in the OP I meant to say the ad for vividseats.com at the beginning of the prog metal definition, I'm not sure how that got cut off.

I don't like them. I like the previous layout for displaying album information.

My pitchforks are all buried in a stack of Dream Theater CDs in my garage, could I borrow some of yours? The internet told me how to make a nuclear bomb, so I'll contribute one of those.

I guess I don't visit album pages too much, I only now just discovered this thanks to your thread. And yes, that is dreadful. Those links should be placed elsewhere, or removed.
