''Showing TOP 25 only''

I agree, sorting the highest rated 25 on a separate page is completely pointless and irritating, but then again so is sorting non-collab reviews on a separate page, but that doesn't seem to be changing any time soon either.

At first I assumed it was to save bandwidth, but text is tiny, and almost everybody is just going to reload the page to get the full list anyway, so I'm confused.

Considering these profiles, that have 500+ reviews, you can save 270KB, where what you'll get will have 230KB (PHILIPPE's page), but profiles with so many reviews are rare.

And you can't do this hiding feature with other sorting styles, because if you hit "chronological", you'll get full review list, no matter what. Isn't there a way how to do this with javascript, so it will load once you get on page, but won't show, until button pressed. But then it will show without loading.

It looks like promising upgrade (something is going on, there are tries to improve, so it's good thing), but still in its infancy and has its flaws

Too much text on a page is bad for search engine rankings.

PA isn't the top ranked website for prog rock just because of its quality content - it's also because all the pages are optimized for search engines, including the collabs pages.

Well, I suppose it's because default setting is to show ratings. Maybe next step will be another option of sorting, let's say: choose your favourite top 25 reviews and we'll show them here.

And strictly matter of words, top can mean that these reviews are "on top", but OK, everyone thinks that top 25 = best 25. Including me.

And don't confuse me with devils advocate, all I'm saying are facts and my thoughts, not my preferences.

Rankings are always changing - M@x keeps constantly optimizing all the pages and has been for several years ... without that it wouldn't have become the #1. Google is also always modifying its ranking algorithm ...  

^ where did you read this? AFAIK they only removed the PageRank distribution statistic from the web master tools.

^ true, but the pages all link to each other. Collabs pages get a few inbound links, too ... according to the toolbar Sean Trane's page has a PageRank of 4. I think it's good ranking wise to give that page direct links to the top 25 albums only - that way more of the inbound links' rank is passed to more important pages than the individual reviews (like back to the start page).
