^ I don't think the gtfo is out yet so I can't vote, but it can't be less reliable than the iPod.

^ I think most manufacturers have given up on microdrives over solid state flash for all players under 16Gb. Anything over that is going to be 1.8" or 2.5" hard disc.

This all opinion, of course, but I think Zunes get a bad rap for no reason. It's funny as hell to me how Mac computers get slayed  by most people, yet iPods are loved by everyone, even if they hate Apple products.

LOL

...reflects what you get ... with a bit of margin for being the only 250G media player available (and for being French probably Wink). Of all those I looked at the Archos is the only one you can actually watch a movie on with any degree of comfort - as a mp3 player it's an over-kill.

Wow, I might have to trade in my iPod.  Looks like this now supports OGG/FLAC as well, and is Linux compatible.

Hmm...

i just wanted to let everyone know about the zunes and how badass they are.
for $15 a month you get unlimited music downloads, although you have to keep paying every month in order to keep them but in addition for the price of $15 you can get 10 songs to keep for ever.Another amazing addition to the zune is the fact that it has built in wifi (not for viewing the web sadly) for downloading music from the zune marketplace, another function that can be used with the wifi is wirelessly syncing your music

i have a 120G zune and i have yet to encounter any problems.

here is a link to the zune devices and as you can see they are much cheaper than ipods
http://www.zune.net/en-US/mp3players/default.htm

here is a link to a free trial of the zune marketplace for 14 days
http://www.zune.net/en-US/software/zunepass/default.htm

hope you guys like it

Fixed.

the iPlod's 40G harddisc was temperamental and unreliable, so I removed it and replaced it with a 4G flash drive - the smaller drive can't hold my collection but it is useful for using in the car if I pre-load it with stuff I want to hear.

Having had a 4th Gen iPlod for many years, I've changed over to an Archos 5 - it's a brilliant little box that can plug into my AV system, playback video and record programmes straight to its 250Gb hard disc; it's also wifi enabled and can stream from my PC and the interweb and has a USB I/F for playing stuff of USB sticks.
