Inspired by crimson87's poll about Genesis' most rocking album, I have decided to get an idea of who is the most rocking classic prog band. I have chosen these artists because of the popularity and classic status they have achieved. I would be glad to hear why a band I left out rocks the most. Out of the bands I have listed, I vote for Jethro Tull. They have many songs that are heavily blues inspired. Even their most progressive albums have moments of sheer rockingness. They also seem to have more rock type guitar riffs.

Yes, JT for me as well. The first cd of 'nightcap' is a prime example of their most rocking side.

Where's Rush? I would have said that.

Out of these, Jethro Tull.

Camel by a hair over Jethro Tull.  I can't think of a more inspired rock-out than the end of Lady Fantasy.

Tull.

They were a blues rock band who morphed into a folk-influenced prog band, but they never lost their rock roots.

Out of those? Crimso. Don't believe me? Listen to Red, Larks' Tongues in Aspic part II or Fracture.

...Yeah, they're heavy.

Edit : ...And they rock.

^ You're right. Actually this whole thread can be reduced to the question "Who's rockier, Red or Aqualung?"

I'm surprised King Crimson isn't running away with this. They were very heavy in 1974 and their last album "Power To Belive" still rocks heavily.
