Both. Prefer CD's over downloads but sometimes download (legally), when the cd is not available.

Both - I have an emusic account, but I still buy a couple of CDs every month, generally new releases.

90 % bought CD's. The other 10% I got from a semi-legal Russian mp3 site where I paid about 15% of the store price. It gives me a better feeling to at least pay something for it (in the hope that the artists receive at least some of that low price). If I REALLY like an album I absolutely want the CD if it were only for the booklet as an extra.

Same for me. I think I'm an old-school guy too and iPod, mp3 and so on rather aren't my cup ot tea.

make that "illegal" ... and the artists don't see any money from those sites.

I only buy CD's. - They are of better quality than a downloaded song. - I like to have a CD with the booklet and things like that. - I think illegal downloading could be called 'stealing'. - I'm too lazy to learn how and where to download.

^ it's good that you see illegal downloading as what it is. :-)
Have a look at eMusic.com though ... legal downloading can be easier than you think. The downloads also cost considerably less than the full CDs ... my current approach is that I simply buy a lot less CDs than I used to, and make up for that by also downloading some albums. The benefits:
1. I still get to listen to many albums 2. I still keep expanding my CD collection (just at a slower pace) 3. It costs me much less than if I got all the stuff on CD
:-)

Just bought three last week. I must have the inserts!
edit: If I had a turntable, vinyl would be an option as well.

I don't like mp3's. I feel as if I don't own anything, even if I have paid for it and, actually, own it. I spend considerable amounts on CDs and vinyls, mostly because what I want and don't have yet are only available through imported CDs or rare vinyls. For you to understand the situation, imagine yourself paying US$60 per cd, as an average.

Just out of curiosity: Is eMusic.com available from Brazil, and what do they charge for a typical subscription plan (say 30 tracks/month)?

I generally still buy CD's by buying or ordering from my local CD store.
If I can't find the hard copy that way, I will check out iTunes and buy from there.
Exhausting that I'll see if I can use some other manner if the CD is out of print. (ie eBay, "etc")
