Topic: Favorite 80s King Crimson album Posted: July 10 2009 at 16:14 |
I personally like Beat the best. They are all genius. It's amazing how Fripp seemed to have a couple good ideas that specifically permeate each King Crimson lineup.

I chose Discipline. 'Beat' has the problem of letting the world hearing 'Two Hands' and not being as coherent as the first. And I don't even want to talk about "Three..." which lacks the substance of the two others.

I voted Discipline, but like all of them. This poll will most likely be a landslide.

Definitely Discipline. I like the other two as well, but they're not as consistent, with both strong and weak points. There are no weak points in Discipline.

You had to know Discipline would run away with it. It has the best cover and the best set of tunes. It was a groundbreaking album for KC. Plus I have fond memories of seeing them play live on that tour.
Still, I like Beat. A little less though. They were trying a little too hard for more commercial success. I enjoyed Three Of A Perfect Pair although on that one they too many noisy pieces. Highly recommend the DVD with shows from the live tours from the last two albums.

Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

Discipline will always hold the spot for me, as it was my first intro to KC and I think it was a wonderfully crafted work of art.

I had a feeling Discipline would kick some ass, but I had to see witness it.

Discipline wins this, but Three of a Perfect Pair gives it a strong running.
