Guess I shoulda done thisfor my very post, ah well it doesn't matter. I've been on this site for a brief time and it's already becoming a regular tab on my internet window. First timer as far as the forums go, just signed up today.
I've always said that music on a personal level has not so much been limited to being an enjoyable experience - headbanging to some heavy-ass death metal with some buddies or rapping to your favorite beat - but at least for me has been about retaining my insanity. I have a feeling that I'm not the only one who feels their own ever-changing level of social alienation dependent upon access to music. I mean, there's absolutely nothing more saitfying after a really long, hard day than to kick back and enjoy some of your favorite music. It's almost necessary to get through the tough times. Without any to listen to I would probably go... well, nuts. There's only so much a music-less world can offer and after that, ya gotta wonder where the beautiful sound is?
Anyway, this is a progressive music website (and a very good one, may I add), so I won't bore you about some non-prog sh*t that I love listening to (Primus, Led Zeppelin, Necrophagist, Phish, etc.), so here are some awesome prog sh*t I've listened to so far.
As far as favorite prog bands and bands in general, I'd have to say Yes, Pink Floyd, and Tool fit that criteria, with my favorite albums from these bands being Fragile, Animals or Dark Side of the Moon, and Lateralus or 10,000 Days, respectably. Of course there are certainly other prog bands that I am very fond of: Jethro Tull, Kansas, King Crimson, Dream Theater, and Rush, to name a few.
I hope to post here more often.
