Yep, Friday was my last day. Now to just wait and see what grades I received.

I'm just glad it's over though. I don't have a job this summer either, so it'll be complete free time. I won't know what to do at certain points I imagine.

Huh? Jim Morrison wasn't self-indulgent? Really?

Well, not in the conventional/musical sense, I think. The Doors were essentially a roots rock/pop rock/blues rock (at different times) band which brought in half a million psychedelic elements but still kept very much in touch with the visceral essence of rock. I hadn't really thought of them as self-indulgent, for some reason, combining alcohol/drugs with rock music isn't self-indulgent , and The Doors aren't often particularly obtuse or difficult to understand.
|
That's a pretty good argument.
But still, self-indulgent doesn't mean bad.

*nods agreement* Impressions of TAGM listen 2: - It does sound like a VDGG album, even without the sax, overdubs or organo-massiv.
- The love songs are generally a shade better than the unusual psych ones.
- Despite this, I can remember the second half better than the first half.
- The title track is hilarious
- Ferret & Featherbird is probably the best thing I can remember, but it's still half as good as the one on In Camera.

I don't know what that acronym is, but I'm sure James will appreciate your thoughts.

I don't know how to write reviews for my favorite albums without sounding like a foaming-at-the-mouth fanboy. For example, look at my review of Of Queues and Cures. Terrible.

All I know is that it's some Hammill solo album.
|
WRONG!!!! The Aerosol Grey Machine was originally recorded as a Hammill solo album with the presence of the members of Van Der Graaf Generator at the time, including Keith Ellis, Hugh Banton and Guy Evans. However, it was released, via a deal with the record company, under the VDGG name, thus making it their debut album. Also, you needed to know that [/overlyinformativeJamespost]

Oh, that album. I have that album around here somewhere, actually. Probably only listened to part of it.
