Simple rules really. You have 3 hours to fill with your favourite live music. You can use these 3 hours whichever way you want, whether it be 3 sets from 3 bands on one massive set from one band. So what would your ideal gig consisit of? I'll give mine as an example:

Meshuggah -

Future Breeding Machine
New Millenium Cyanide Christ
Gods Of Rapture
In Death - Is Death/ In Death - Is Life
Glints Collide
Bleed
Soul Burn
Sane
I

Death -

The Philosopher
See Through Dreams
Crystal Mountain
Living Monstrosity
Lack Of Comprehension
Empty Words
Flesh And The Power It Holds
Destiny
Perennial Quest

Opeth -

The Moor
April Ethereal
Heir Apparent
Under The Weeping Moon
Ghost Of Perdition
To Bid You Farewell
Deliverance
Blackwater Park

Encore: Godhead's Lament and Demon Of The Fall

Doesn't exactly add up to 3 hours (in fact I think I went a bit over) but you get the idea.

Post away

Tool would come out onstage and play "Lateralus" in its entirety

Then Dream Theater would come out and cover "Lateralus". Until Tool found out they were doing so and kicked them off for butchering their album (I love DT, their covers suck).

They would be kicked off in enough time for Tool to play "Lateralus" again.

Thumbs Up

Alternate setlist - Every band that I list here comes onstage and plays at the same time and plays these songs all flowing into each other by clever segues, with maybe a couple of cool short jams. And the singers will all sing at the same time. Jordan Rudess will in fact NOT play when there are no keyboard parts, like he should have when covering other songs.

King Crimson - Lark's Tongues in Aspic
Tool - Third Eye into Lost Keys/Rosetta Stoned
Meshuggah - I
Dream Theater - The Glass Prison
Nine Inch Nails - Wish
Rush - La Villa Strangiato
Gentle Giant - Knots and I lost my Head
Dream Theater - Octavarium
BTBAM - "Informal Gluttony" into "Sun of Nothing" into "Ants of the Sky"
Tool - Parabol(a)
Opeth - The Grand Conjuration
Nine Inch Nails - March of the Pigs
Tool - Lateralus

For sure. There cannot be anything better than Trent Reznor, Jens Kidman, Mikael Akerfeldt, Geddy Lee, and the others all singing "Knots" at the same time. Plus, the stage would be huge!

First, Jethro Tull:
-Fylingdale flyer
-Songs from the wood
-Pussy willow
-Farm on the freeway
-Dark ages
-Heavy horses
-Nothing is easy
-Thick as a brick

then Gentle Giant
-Just the same
-The house, the street, the room
-The runaway/Experience
-Playing the game
-The advent of Panurge
-In a glass house
-Free hand

and finally, Genesis

-Watcher of the skies
-Dancing with the moonlit knight
-One for the vine
-Home by the sea
-The fountain of Salmacis
-Domino
-Turn it in again
-In the cage/Cinema show/Quiet earth/Apocalypse/Eggs is eggs (The Invisible touch -tour medley was the same, except that there was no Cinema)
-Can-utility and the coastliners
-Dance on a volcano/Los endos

It wouldn't get much better for me

three hours is way to short, but if I was given a whole day here's what I would have. Now I know this is impossible but this would be my dream concert where  a lot of dead people would be back.

The concert would start at 8am and would go on until all the following was finished.

Opening Band

A gaint curtain rises to reveal the resurrected/ non zombie Freddie Mercury who would be joined  by the rest of the original queen lineup.

They would open with Great King Rat, than would play keep yourself alive, liar and my fairy king before segwaying into the white side of Queen 2. Then freddie would chat the crowd up about how great life is and how great it is to be back. Than the band would play the black side of queen 2. Then they would play Sheer heart attack in its entirety, brighton rock would have an extended badass solo. A half hour intermission would occur, than night at the opera would be played in it entirety.

The band would take a bow and the lights would dim.

after a few minutes ( yes my dream concert ignores normal set up times, andsounchecks, its a dream concert reality has no place!) The orignal The Who lineup would appear on stage, opening with overture and playing tommy in its entirety. Followed by Quadraphenia and ending with Who's Next, there would be intermissions of course. The Who would play with its great energy and as loud as possible.

Than Jethro Tull would appear to play songs from the wood, benefit and aqualung.

Than the original Thin Lizzy ( Phil Lynott, Brian Daowney Scott Gorham and Brian Robertson)would follow, playing jailbreak in its entirety. The rest of the set list would consist of Holy war, Angel of Death, Toughest streets in town, the rocker, Whiskey in the jar, dancing in the moonlight, gotta to give it up, waiting for an alabi. Gary Moore would join for the encore, out in the fields.

To shake things up and completely baffle people and change the mood the original Metallica lineup would appear. But Cliff Burton would appear first with a spot light on him as he plays the opening to Orion, then the rest of the band would join in. The rest of the set list would be as follows. Four Horsemen, Seek and Destroy, Welcome Home (Sanitarium), fade to black, ride the lightning, Anesthesia pulling teeth, no remorse, creeping death, to live is to die. Thier performance  would end with dyers eve( with an awesome bass line by cliff that is actually audible and adds to the song).

Than Megadeth circa Rust in Peace era would appear and play rust in peace in its entirety followed by peace sells but who's buying in its entirety.

The lights would dim and than one would hear the opening to 2112 with a more energetic and improvised drum intro by neal pert. The lights would go back on to reveal Rush. They would play 2112 in its entirety. After an intermission they would return to play the trees, working man, bastille day, nobodys hero, driven, xanadu cygnus x-1, cygnus x-1 book 2, and in villa strangetta. Their encore would be moving pictures in its entirety.

As the afternoon became evening the last two bands would be revealed. Pink Floyd, with all members. Syd Barret and David Gilmour would both play guitar, waters on bass, and rick wright on keyboards. They would open with wish you were here in its entirety as a a tribute to how much they've missed Sid and how its nice to have him back for one night. They would follow that by pepper at the gates of dawn in its entirety, than darkside of the moon in its entirety. Thier encore would be The Wall in its entirety.

The great and exhausting day would conclude with The original Genesis. Peter Gabriel would come out with a spot light,,dressed as a knight stating " I drift along the English Channel, I am Britania." Than a the rest of the band would appear as the opened thier set with dancing with the moonlit knight, followed by the rest of selling england by the pound. The encore would be The Lamb Lies down on Broadway, all the crzy costumes, lights and stage craft would ne included and the whole band would play at its best.

Well that was really long winded, sorry.

I have several equal gigs, and I could mix and match all day.

Queensryche + Savatage at the At Moore Theater w/ After Forever opening.

After Forever -

Monolith of Doubt
Emphasis
For the Time Being
Forlorn Hope

Savatage (with Jon as lead vocalist)

Streets: a Rock Opera complete setlist

Queensryche

Mindcrime I & II (Floor Jansen as Mary) (Jon Oliva as Dr. X)

Encore - Savatage and Queensryche play an extended dual version of a"Hall of the Mountain king + Empire medley"

Would go over three hours for sure, but my word I would die for that show.

I think I'd settle for an extended an expanded rendering of Jethro Tull's Thick as a Brick followed by Passion Play. After that the complete Baker Street Muse and as an encore the Chateau D'isaster cycle.

The set can consist of anything Roine and co choose, as long as it includes I Am The Sun (full version), Stardust We Are and Monsters And Men.  Then I'm really happy Big smile
