I'm going to see AMT at the Hi-Tone in Memphis tonight, & Marnie Stern is opening! Do I need to say that I'm pumped?

Enjoy! There are few things better in life than Kawabata Makoto leading the AMT crew through a 40 minutes plus psychedelic odyssey.

^ Yeah they've toured pretty extensively in the past 3 or 4 years by my memory.

The show was effin fantastic. I got there too late to see Marnie Stern, but was just in time for free jazz group Sonic Suicide Squad ...siiiick bari sax player
Acid Mothers Temple were INSANE ...they played from 1:00am - 3:00am with no breaks ...I felt like I was at a Cosmic Jokers session
Kawabata played like a madman...
...& Tsuyama Atsushi shredded his bass like a friggin guitar player! I haven't seen chops that fast since I saw Primus back in 98! The man can even throat sing!
Higashi Hiroshi played his synth like a master ...the sounds coming out of his board were straight out of an old school sci-fi flick
They had tons of cd's for sale at the show ...I asked Tsuyama to recommend me one. He suggested the Hendrix-esque Are We Experimental
...& I even got it autograped

Unfortunately their music is often a pastiche of old spacey-rock legends as Gong, Hawkwind, The Cosmic Jokers and Amon Düül II. Sometimes it's just silly chaotic noise. Nevertheless they can produce astonishing propulsive krauty stuffs as Myth of the love electrique or Wild gals a Go-Go. Not the best band coming from Japanese psychedelica underground but a nice listening with fine retro-erotic CD covers.
With their potential, I'm sure they can be explosive on stage!

You've got a point. They sometimes seem to be space rock"devotees"but they do it so well, with such power and musicianship. They are explosive on stage:if you have the opportunity to see them, don't miss. What do you think of Marble Sheep?

Like Ozric Tentacles AMT are always worth seeing live, but the albums are of distinctly variable quality.
