The Kevin Gregg era just came to an abrupt halt.

I'm surprised it lasted so long, to be honest.  Marmol is twice the relief pitcher Gregg is.

Baseball Tonight had a good laugh about that too. I couldn't agree more; Marmol can put anyone away which is what you need in a relief pitcher. Once Samardzjia comes back the bullpen will hopefully be more stable (have to see who sets up for Marmol in the meantime).

Just finish ahead of the Cardinals. I am so sick of Cardinal Nation.

Yep.  Kevin Millwood tied them in knots for 7 innings, but in the 8th inning the Rangers went to their bullpen and the hitters went to work and scored 6 runs to beat them 6-4.  After starting 0 and 6 last year I can't remember if the Tigers ever made it back over .500 last year or not.  Either way the sweep was great and here comes the first battle of the year with the White Sox.

Samardjia is filthy.  I can't think of another pitcher who throws upper-nineties with that much movement.  Sure, he doesn't have any other pitches, but he's not a starter.  I guess Gregg can set up; if he can't do that then what the hell are they paying him so much money for?

I didn't realize there WAS a Cardinal Nation.  Personally, I'm a member of Pujols nation, but it's hard to really imagine the Cardinals even taking the wildcard.

Marmol went 3 up 3 down in the 8th tonight, untouchable stuff. Gregg comes in for the 9th gives up a homer to Rickie Weeks with 2 outs, next two men reach base and Fielder comes up as the tying run. Thankfully he struck him out. I don't know why so much money for him when they could have easily gotten Wood back for another season. Marmol/Wood at the tail end of that bullpen was as solid as it came.

Giving up a homer to Weeks is especially embarrassing because Weeks sucks.

The Tigers lost 10 to 6 to the White Sox.  Year in and Year out the Sox just feast on Tiger's pitching.  Those guys look like Hootch from Turner and Hootch they are salivating so much over the idea of facing the Tigers.  The Tigers had 4 or 5 at-bats when the game was a 3 or 4 run difference where a home run would have tied the game, but they just couldn't score those runs.
