I suggested something similar a couple of months ago. I think that it would be nice to get some positive feedback on reviews as a way of encouragement to write more reviews. But in retrospect, I agree that the PM method works well and is probably the better route to go. Unless of course you want to comment on a James review, in which case you will get a full inbox message.
As has been mentioned already and previously in my thread, there are too many bad apples that will turn this into a spam fest and that could potentially create a galestorm nightmare for the administrators to monitor. And of course on the other hand, all of the reviewer fanboys will come out of the woodwork to create a love fest for their favorite reviewers, and lord knows that we don't like fanboys on a prog site. I guess it would be nice to know that when you spend the time to type a review, somebody else actually spent the time to read it. And I think that is kind of what the suggester is suggesting. Rather than something where people can type good or bad things, there would be a button where the reader could say they found the review useful, or they didn't find it useful. Of course, then like with the missed phone call, you'll spend the rest of the eternity wondering who didn't like your review, and why they didn't like it.
