About your native progressive rock bands

Well im swedish and sadly up until very rescently i hadnt heard any swedish prog (except morte macabre wich i had found while looking for goblin stuff). There is just no people around here speaking about prog.

Well, as I recognized no one from my homecountry posted in this thread...(sorry if I overlooked someone).
 As I am from Germany the first thing coming to a progheads mind of course is the 70's Kraut scene (Great bands like Kraan, Can, Faust you know this stuff)
But for today there doesn't seem to evolve music that matters. There are psychedelic Rock bands like Colour Haze (not really prog, but still worth a spin or two)

Noetics maybe (from the region I grew up), Panzerballet .... It is so sad that I can't think of anymore.
There are about 80 million people living in germany and no one seems to have a interest in good music.
When I was in school (90's), I was kind of "infamous" for my unconfortable music. ("what HE's at the stereo? get him out here....). The music most people listen to mostly is tinned fast food trash pop from the USA or maybe electronic music or Hip Hop/R'nB (eeeeeks )

But we have one or two nice Festivals which feature progressive acts: The Burg Herzberg Festival and the Zappanale are maybe the best examples

By the way, I am REALLY interested in any suggestion for a good german band of our days. Especially one with german lyrics (I can't think of any post-70's-Band)

I´d suggest:

EINSTÜRZENDE NEUBAUTEN "Perpetuum Mobile". Although they started as the industrial music icon, their music is quite refined nowadays; I think this record is perfect to discover them because is very accessible and far from their noisy past

BACKSTREET ROMEOS "Flight to Metaluna": great psych band (but unfortunately for you, they sing in english)

LACRIMOSA "Elodia": a superb opera rock, in the goth tradition (dark, romantic, mysterious). I really like this band, and I suggest tthis record as their masterpiece. They have changed its sound several times: the beginnings were in a dark new wave sound ("Satura" is the best record from that era), they turned to a more metal sound ("Inferno" and "Stille", both are good albums). Finally, the sound turned (since the above mentioned "Elodia") into an operistic sound, playing with symphonic orchestra. I wonder what will be their next musical change.

ANYONE´S DAUGHTER is a classic band that maybe you already know, but "Adonis" and "In Blau" are symphonic works worth to be discovered

RPWL is a modern band in the vein of the typical 80´s and 90´s revival. I´m not really fond of them, but I´ve seen them live and, despite not really being of my interest, you could probably enjoy them, because I don´t consider they´re bad musicians

I'm amazed that my fellow Finns are yet to mention Jeavestone, who to me are the most interesting new prog at the moment.

They're a band I'd like to get to know better, but for some reason have yet failed to do so. They've been getting such loud support on one certain Finnish prog forum, that it has aroused my interest

Kind of a mix of symphonic prog and neo-classical metal (Yngwie Malmsteen)
