Topic: Playing Music and Making women Cry ? Posted: March 02 2009 at 05:56 |
I had a lady friend over my place today and something weird happened I`m not sure what it means . I played her an old song I wrote on the Keyboard ok its a sad little tune simple but effective kinda floydish in style I turned around after playing it and she had tears coming from her eyes at first I though it must have really sucked or something what I played but now I`m wondering why do women cry sometimes with certain pieces of music ? and what does it mean .. is it a bad thing ?

if you find out what you did or if your music communicates such emotions you could make a fortune - all songwriters and musicians are striving for this all the time!
...or was your playing really that bad?

Did you shower and deoderize this morning?
I don't think I've ever known a woman who cried simply at a piece of music, although I have known a couple that cry because of certain lyrics. Were there lyrics involved?

I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?

Maybe she's Emo.
In all likelihood though she must have enjoyed the performance. Good on ya.

Well, even men can cry (or, at least, let some drops of salty water getting out from their eyes) when listening to music. I remember visiting a she-friend who made me hear some of her songs. Her oriental-like songs made me think of the history of my family and I nearly cried in front of her.
And Jean-Luc Ponty makes me think of my childhood: his music made me cry a while ago.

Never seen it myself, but would love to be able to write music that had that effect on a lady.
I did once play Racenteur Troubador by Gentle Giant to a lady friend, and she did seem to shed a tear or two, but that may have been down to the uncontrollable laughing..

I don't know about women, but I always start to cry whenever I try to sing. I have such an emotional voice!

I also tend to cry when trying to sing. Except in my case it's cause of the lag from what I intend to do and what comes out.
However, not only women cry when hearing music. I also cry in some of these ocasions (last time while hearing Spirogyra's "Cogwheels crutches and cyanide").
I suspect that after crying of a song you played, bed is the next logical step. A different kind of crying !

I've played Green Carnation's "Acoustic Verses" and have seen two women cry because of the music, the acoustic element on the disk is very emotional... One has recently battled breast cancer and the track "The Burden is Mine" got to her ... And the other had issues with her parents, so the first track "Sweet Leaf" spoke to her...
In your case, I'd say she was emotionally charged that you would share something so personal as your own music with her and the tone of sadness compelled to her to cry... It's a great thing I'd say, hope you comforted her.
