Hi.

I have received a lot of prog CDs (bought them...) lately and I have noticed the wide geographic spreading of the albums. From above the polar circle to Bolivia, Armenia, Turkey, USA and even England (what ! They play prog rock in England ??).

Just an idea I have got.........

Why not put up a world map and put a pin in for every band with reference. For example pin # 99 on the world map in Armenia = Oaksenham. Let your mouse run over it and the name of the country and the band pops up.

In USA, you can put the pin on the city or state. The same goes for the excotic country called United Kingdom.

I believe the software is there. It could be great fun and also enhance the PA experience.

Just an idea......

You know that this is a very nice ideaSmile? I don't know how feasible it would be (I'm not the webmaster, after all), but I think it would help to get bands from lesser-known countries a bit more exposure.

I like the idea. Seeing as I have no idea of how complicated this would be to implemet it: Could it be ready by next week?

Also, how about a map of PA user locations?

Both of them could be done like MySpace's virtual map. The question is, is there any virtual map free software available? I guess writing the code for such a complicated software can take quite some time...

If I'm interested in checking out various countries scenes, I just pull up one of the alphabetical listings and choose a group from that country. Or I type in the country's name in the search function.
Unless of course, a person doesn't know of the existence of a nation or region. Then, why would a pin map matter.

Yes, but in order to show it like a Googlemap chart we would need the addresses.

Today I found a free flash component that could be useful ... maybe I'll implement it at Progfreak.com. The list of bands should be quite similar.

It is a nice idea actually, but i don't know how difficult would be to create this map and everything but i think the idea should be informed to m@x

Forgive me I don't know the technical way but I guess it's difficult...we should construct strict database of all bands at first and...makin' the map is next...indeed it's a very brilliant idea.
