This is so much tougher when you're the one guessing!

The penultimate clip REALLY sounds like a rendition of Gong's famous Om riff to me. But that's been covered/appropriated by so many bands that I just wouldn't know where to start. Also, it might not even be the Om riff at all, in which case I now look like an arse.

My musical ignorance has lead me to pick an enormously popular riff. Uggh Censored. And it had to be from the least known band out of the bunch.

Well, here comes a hint that hopefully will help. All but one clip come from a band or a member of a band who have an album in the PA Top 100 albums. The other clip is from the solo career of someone who is in a band that is relatively well known around these parts. The Om riff clip is from a somewhat obscure American Experimental/Post Metal band whose line-up has included very well known names in the world of prog.

Due to the lack of participation I will solve my own puzzle and reopen the floor for other people to make new quizzes.

1. Beardfish "South of the Border"
2. Banco del Mutuo Soccorso "Sono La Bestia"
3. Opeth "Under the Weeping Moon"
4. VdGG "Black Smoke Yen" (the only song to be known)
5. Jerry Goodman "Pioneers of Aviation"
6. Roine Stolt "Mr. Evergreen"
7. Gordian Knot "Rivers Dancing"
8. Orme, Le "Danza Del Vento (Seconda Parte)"

Which gives the letters "BBOVJRGO." When unscrambled they spell Grovjobb. Back to you Trouserpress or anyone else that wants to give this a go.

This is about as shameless of a bump as they come, but this was a fun game and I want it back.

Someone definitely needs to make one. Once I get some more time, I may have to do that.

Here's another one. I know I didn't make it anywhere near as hard as my previous effort. http://www.box.net/shared/zlsmd8xojh

Band's name is 11 letters long.

I tried to post this last night but something went awry. So here we go again:

#3 sounds VERY familiar but I can't put my finger on it just yet.

#6 is King Crimson - Lark's Tongues Part 1

#11 is Yes. Something offof GFTO but I can't remember the song title.

(I think I remembered the numbers correctly but I haven't bothered to check since listening last night. Yes, I AM that lazy.)

No. 1 is by Caravan

'tis Pye Hastings and Richard Sinclair, so it's pre-Waterloo Lily

That's the one!

I knew it was Caravan and I wasn't going to go through my Caravan albums to find it out. LOL

I don't recognise any of the others.

The remaining songs all come from albums in the top 100 studio albums of their respective genres and some are even in PA's Top 100. 3 are symphonic, 1 eclectic and 1 psychedelic/space. If Sunday rolls around and there hasn't been any progress I'll give more specific hints.

kar traf ant cam hawk

Clip 4 - A modern symphonic Swedish band that started as a sideproject of some members of another modern symphonic Swedish band.
Clip 5 - An eclectic English band  from the late 60s to mid 70s. It started with more psychedelic albums then switched to a blues/folk style to produce its biggest hit. It's also one of the few bands on PA in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Clip 7 - Debut album from an English guitarist that left his band in 1970 because of stagefright.
Clip 8 - I'm surprised no one got this clip yet. It's in the Top 50 PA albums of all time and the band's heyday was in the 70s although it has continued to produce albums up until early 2000s. This band has also been described as "elevator prog" in a somewhat heated prog poll that has been started recently.
Clip 10 - An English psychedelic/space band who released their first album in 1970. For the first 12 years of their career, they released an average of one studio album per year and are still active.

4 is close to The Flower Kings
5 is "Glad" by Traffic
8 is "Earthrise" by Camel.

That brings the correct letters to CSE*TK*CR*Y
