This is about as shameless of a bump as they come, but this was a fun game and I want it back.

Due to the lack of participation I will solve my own puzzle and reopen the floor for other people to make new quizzes.
1. Beardfish "South of the Border" 2. Banco del Mutuo Soccorso "Sono La Bestia" 3. Opeth "Under the Weeping Moon" 4. VdGG "Black Smoke Yen" (the only song to be known) 5. Jerry Goodman "Pioneers of Aviation" 6. Roine Stolt "Mr. Evergreen" 7. Gordian Knot "Rivers Dancing" 8. Orme, Le "Danza Del Vento (Seconda Parte)" Which gives the letters "BBOVJRGO." When unscrambled they spell Grovjobb. Back to you Trouserpress or anyone else that wants to give this a go. |

My musical ignorance has lead me to pick an enormously popular riff. Uggh
![]() Well, here comes a hint that hopefully will help. All but one clip come from a band or a member of a band who have an album in the PA Top 100 albums. The other clip is from the solo career of someone who is in a band that is relatively well known around these parts. The Om riff clip is from a somewhat obscure American Experimental/Post Metal band whose line-up has included very well known names in the world of prog. |

This is so much tougher when you're the one guessing!
The penultimate clip REALLY sounds like a rendition of Gong's famous Om riff to me. But that's been covered/appropriated by so many bands that I just wouldn't know where to start. Also, it might not even be the Om riff at all, in which case I now look like an arse. |

Van der Graaf Generator - Aquarian (or it could be Octopus or Giant Squid) Not sure which number it is... 3 or 4 I believe. Edited by James - February 08 2009 at 15:21 |

No Flower Kings in this one. I imagine around half of these will get figured out relatively quickly based on the number of ratings the albums have.

There you go. 8 letters this time. Articles do not count as the first letter of the band name and solo acts go by their first name. Good luck. |

Go ahead and post it Cap'n! It looks like no one's going to get them. James already sussed the final answer anyway.
For those who care, #9 was Goblin and #10 was Lard Free. I hope you all feel suitably ashamed. |

Great work, guys!
![]() ![]() So what we're left with is: TENTIGAN**E A little basic deduction should mean you already know what letters #9 and 10 ought to be. That should hopefully help you identify them. #9 is pretty well-known round these parts. #10 are probably a little more obscure, but I'd be very surprised if I'm the only one who's heard of them here. They're listed in the archives, after all. |

So if, as I suspect, Blowie, Memo and Mosni Lamf are right, we now have:
TENTIGAN**E Hmm... Gentle Giant It is Eskaton then. So what's 10? Hmm... Edited by James - February 07 2009 at 17:45 |

Oops! The numbers were wrong when I first typed out my message and then I sorted them out (I only had 10) and then forgot to remove that line. And damn, it was Etron Fou! I don't think I'll get number 10... ![]() |

#7 is Anglagard, from the album Hybris.
And #11 is definitely Etron Fou Leloublan, one of my favourite songs on that album (Les poumons gonflés).
![]() I'm lucky these 2 had not been mentioned as I don't know any of the other 9. ![]() Edited by mosni lamf - February 07 2009 at 11:38 |
