Great Bands Most Underrated Songs

   Most of us love the greats..such as Pink Floyd-Porcupine Tree-Eloy-Genesis-Yes-Tull ect....
but even these bands have had 'poor' albums over the years..
Yet..out of  these albums (or others) there are songs that are brilliant and should be appreciated it more, 
for instance
Eloy-A Broken Frame..from the often slammed Performance, is a very good song with Matziol and Bornemann in top form
Eloy-Eloy from their legendary first 'bin' album..has one of the best intros in prog
Jethro Tull-Roll Yer Own- a little known gem of a song from Catfish Rising
Pink Floyd- Not now John- from Final Cut..Waters at his angriest..great!
Kansas-Need- I love this song from Freaks of Nature..Phil Ehart proves yet again to be one of the best in rock
Yes-More We Live Let Go..from Union..
it would be interesting to know if you too love some  less known gems from the greats..

	I'm approaching this not so much as underrated songs, but great bands' good songs off of poorly received/ thought of albums. I think the biggest, most commercially successful names in Prog quite commonly put out the worst albums (from a Prog perspective) -- especially when compared to their earlier albums (especially classic ones from the 70's who tried to change with the times). Certainly it's the big names' bad albums that get talked about most, but there were many Prog bands that started off poor and ended that way. There are many lesser-known ones who have been amazingly consistent quality-wise and have been going for a long time. Other musically great ones who had short careers never suffered any fall from "progressive" grace. A couple that immediately spring to mind: "Eliphas Levi" off of Magma's much despised album Merci. It's beautiful and is the longest track on the album. Focus's album Mother Focus is considered very poor by many (their lowest rated album) and yet "Bennie Helder" is one of my favourite Focus tracks. I rather like the album, anyway, on the whole. Now since we're talking really important Prog names, I should probably say something nice about some Gentle Giant music from the last three studio, an much despised by me, albums. Giant for a Day may the worst of those, but I rather enjoy "Spookie Boogie." Not great, but enjoyable. And King Crimson's Beat is much maligned, but "Requiem" is a very good track, I think. 	I like "Dreaming While You Sleep" and "Driving the Last Spike" from Genesis's We Can't Dance album. "Just for the Record" from Marillion's final album with Fish Clutching at Straws seems to be not particulary popular with fans, but I think it has some great lyrics. "It's too late, I've found it's too far I'm in two minds; both of them are out of it at the bar"
