yeah picking is one of the great hurdles of mastering guitar.. I have a good alternate style cause I flex my thumb and index finger to pick quickly,  legato is hard as well-- the thing I find most challenging in sweep-picking is getting the true  arpeggios, some are on the same string!  

not so great with scales and modes, I mean I use them but i haven't really mastered incorporating them into stuff

another cool thing I've been doing more is skipping multiple strings in a scale during a solo, really brings out some nice phrases..and specifically playing the notes of chords can be good too
