I think because in recent years, not keeping it all together lost him points from fans. Some of his rather bad performances show on up youtube, he even manages to hit bung notes during the Eruption tapping solo in some of those videos. I guess he might be one of those guys that would have been held in higher regard had he died tragically before he became addicted to drugs.

people just don't realize how hard it is to play day after day, year after year, and everyone expects perfection

That's true, but you watch guys like Satriani, and he never got sloppy and always remained tight with his playing over the years, whereas guys like Kirk Hammett and Zakk Wylde, to name a few, let fame get to their head and became sloppy because they got to a point where they had all the fame and things they wanted and didn't care anymore to practice enough.
All Satch does on tour, is practice his ass off, everyday without fail, for hours and hours.
For that, and for other reasons, he remains my favorite guitar hero.

Very spot on played indeed.

Well, it's 9pm, I might as well go play some guitar.
Cya David, was good chatting to you.

And I'm annoyed... I have Crazy Train stuck in my head.  I've heard it twice this weekend... now I don't mind some Sabbath/Ozzy but this track is annoying.

Give me War Pigs and I'll be happy.

They were a bit meh, to be honest.

Not bad though.

I remember a very cool guitar solo in there.

You may like it, I'm not sure.  It's more symphonic than chamber.

I think I remember them being discussed before in the RIO room, those that have heard them were similarly underwhelmed.  Maybe I'll grab a track or two to sample them.
