My playing takes some influence from Malmsteen and others of the 80s, but I'm too bluesy in my approach to sound quite like that, plus my desire to learn fusion.

Well, Stream of Consciousness is their best instrumental ever, which gives a lot of points towards ToT for me personally.
I remember I used to listen to it for an hour straight and not get bored of it, but I can barely listen to Dance Of Eternity once all the way through.
It's hard to describe, but Dance of Eternity makes me feel drained, but not in that good way, so I can't stand to hear it much. Plus, I feel some of the tracks on SFAM aren't that strong.

That said,  Finally Free is absolutely epic, amazing song.

Hamish, I was at Guitar Center a few days ago and saw some travel guitars, y'know ones you can take with you in a bag or an airplane.. they're about 1/3 the size and stripped down to the bare essentials: neck, small body, bridge and tuners, I saw two acoustics and an electric  ..I assume you've seen these, pretty neat though the acoustics didn't impress me  ..I'd rather just get a Steinberg (or whatever the company is that makes those small guitars)

I don't think Steinberger makes travel guitars though. They do make adjustable scale length guitars, but usually bigger instead of smaller, which would make it more difficult to travel with.
I don't think I've seen those particular travel guitars you speak of, I don't remember the exact brand name, but I'm almost certain I'm thinking of the same one you are.
