I was wondering around each sub-genre, with the top 20 albums I notice that in many there are listed albums which really aren't that sub-genre. Not talking about the bands, if not the album listed by the band, I think it would be better to place the albums which were considered for the band's inclusion in the Top 20.

Check the Proto-Prog "sub-genre": there's Perfect Strangers and Purpendicular by Deep Purple, which can't be considered Proto-Prog, also Burn and Machine Head, despite being highly rated or the band's finest albums, those albums aren't Proto-Prog, so it might confuse the one looking for Proto-Prog.

Just a suggestion.

Well Deep Purple are included on PA as a Proto-Prog band so it's normal that any of their albums can at some point (due to ratings) be shown in top category's Top 20. You can't put early DP into Proto and late DP into Related (or not putting it at all), though it would make sense. Site policy...

^That's my "issue", I think that the Top 20 of each sub-genre shouldn't be from rating status, if not for relevance in that sub-genre. I think for each sub-genre, there should be a "Most Important Albums from this Sub-genre", or something like that, rather than just put high rating albums, which in the case of Proto-Prog with Deep Purple's latest efforts it doesn't have sense, IMHO.

This has been discussed before. As I remember someone had brought up having the teams decide on the genre's most important albums, but I don't know what happened with that suggestion.

I think this should not be over-complicated. The top albums should always be taken with a grain of salt anyway; there is no way to get choices that are not subjective in some manner.

There's no harm in keeping the current system.

^^^None at all, but there was some concern about genres like Prog Folk where just about every album belonged to one band (Tull)

Something I've suggested a number of times... getting rid of the 'popular' albums or out of genre albums that pollute in many cases the top albums of each sub-genres page and replacing it with an album list of the various teams.. who define their sub-genres... and also know the music best.  (in theory of course hahha)

never has got off the ground... of course I always tied my suggestion it with tossing the whole  'ranking the album by the ratings system' in the sh*tter that  we have here.  No standards for ratings = worthless list. Just a list of popular albums..  which is great... and is no better than any of the lists people get their rocks off at making fun of hahahh.
