Which album?

Peter Gabriel III. I've been trying to do this for months. Intruder took about 5 listens to get to a level of even-close-to-satisfaction.

IWANNAREADIWANNAREADIWANNAREAD!

This album is so hard to review in my format Ouch, and yet so deserves a good review Shocked

I think the format's not the problem. I'm just too used to reflexively listing features, rather than writing just about the ones I really like, and that ends up being too crowded with this album.

I've decided that any future album reviews I write won't stick to a format.  In fact, I want more humour in my reviews.

I think the hardest part is how to start it. After that you just go with the flow and write in a manner that feels natural for that particular album/time.

I should write more reviews, but they're time consuming and end up terrible anyway.  Plus, writing band bios are hard enough.  I've been putting off adding Dagmar Krause because I want to write a good bio.

Porcupine Tree doesn't convince me. It sure is nice and at times even good, but I really expect something more from what I listen to. Something is lacking.

Go in expecting quality rock instead of a boatload of prog - I think PT is a fantastic rock band which skirts on the edge of prog (well, at least with a lot of their recent releases - earlier Floyd-related stuff is a different animal).

I quite like most of the PT I hear. Fear of a Blank Planet is a bit too weak on the vocals and lyrics front for my liking. I think it's still pretty much alternative rock with a bit of psych thrown in.

Yes, I know. I guess it boils down to me having some problems with modern rock, and Steven Wilson's voice has that "anemic" vibe I find very hard to tolerate.

I have that an issue with Wilson's voice as well.

I agree. It's probably part of the reason my reviews range anywhere from just over a hundred words to well over 1500 or so. The only format I ever stick with is a track-by-track review, but otherwise I just tend to let the words flow.
